This place is NOT kosher! We asked when we arrived, we were told yes. They lied. However, the menu does not reflect a Kosher restaurant. They serve shrimp and bottom feeding fish. NOT KOSHER! It’s Sabbath and we were served meat when we asked for vegetable. Then when we asked for our check, we sat another 10 minutes before anyone even came from the back. NEVER EVER EAT HERE!
Good food in Kenner. Great gyro sandwich and chicken schwarma. the Libby and hummus are pretty good too. for the money, the food could be bigger portioned but I give it 4 out of 5 on flavor.
We ordered take out tonight from Fatima Cafe on Williams, and it was pretty good. It isn’t up to the same standards as Lebanon Cafe, Mona’s, or Byblos, but if you are craving Mediterranean flavors and don’t feel like leaving Kenner to get it, this is a good option. We ordered the sampler appetizer. At around $11, I was disappointed with the small servings of hummus, baba ganoush, and Grecian sauce (tzatziki). There was maybe 1/4 cup of each, if that. I am hoping the serving size was because of being in take out boxes, but either way…it should be improved. The hummus was tasty- good consistency and flavor. The baba ganoush was a bit heavy on the smoke and lemon, so it wasn’t my favorite. The tzatziki was ok, but it lacked strong flavors of cucumber and herbs. I prefer the samplers that have lebnah instead. The tabbouleah was very good. We got no kibby, extra falafel. The falafel had good flavor, but it was a little drier on the inside than what I am used to. We also had the classic gyro. It was good, but not spectacular. I missed the tahini sauce that some local Mediterranean restaurants use. All in all, the food was pretty good, but I will probably only go here versus the forementioned restaurants if I am not able to drive out to Metairie/Uptown. Not a bad option.
Food was amazing. My combo shawarma were cooked perfectly medium rare, and my wife’s combo kabob was very very nice as well. The sides for both our dishes were excellent.
