Hidden gem. A little hole in the wall place with great food at reasonable prices. I had the carnitas which were great, and all the other patrons looked like they were enjoying their meals as well. I will definitely go back to try more of their other offerings.
Not bad. First, let me say that I had was not expecting great things to begin with. I grew up in Mexico and my fiance lives in Peru and I’ve yet to find a Mexican restaurant in the United States serving anything close to real Mexican food.Real Peruvian food would require real Peruvian ingredients: fresh fish from the Pacific Ocean, fresh vegetables, ripened before harvest and ingredients that are just not available here for any price.Mexican food in the United States is generally just awful. They can’t even seem to do the simplest things correctly. Yet such is my love of Peruvian food and my longing for things Peruvian that I felt compelled to try this restaurant.I was , then, pleasantly surprised. The ceviche made of tilapia was a pretty good approximation of Peruvian ceviche. It was not in the same league as a good ceviche in Lima, but I ate it all and enjoyed it. I then had the papa a la huancaina , and it had a lot of the right flavors.I intend to go back and try the aj de gallina, knowing that it probably won’t may be made with the right cheese, and so on.I will also probably not be able to resist trying the causa rellena and a couple of the other typical Peruvian dishes on the menu. The hours are strange (closed on Saturdays, for example) and access is a problem due to road construction.I would’ve liked to seen some traditional Peruvian beverages, like chicha morada, and some Peruvian deserts.Whether I enjoyed the food because it brought back memories or whether it really stands on its own I don’t know and, I frankly don’t care.I will certainly go back and probably order takeout because there is not a lot of room in this restaurant. However the atmosphere is friendly staff and other patrons are friendly.
Tiny place but authentic food from several latin countries. They had pollo guisado, pupusas , ceviche etc and the food is SO good & very well priced ex. 3 large mixed pupusas $5. Our new little place when we are Jonesing for our families flavor
Just doesn’t taste peruvian. As a peruvian I was excited to go to this restaurant after I found it on this website and read good reviews about it. I called beforehand to make sure they cook Peruvian food because it’s not usual to find a restaurant like this in Louisiana but they assured me they had everything, including Tacu Tacu, which was our main reason to go there. Upon arrival, we were surprised that the restaurant is a little place where nobody spoke English. My husband, who is originally from Louisiana and knows about peruvian food because of me, couldn’t understand a word on the menu because there was no translation like most hispanic restaurants do. Also, the menu was limited and they didn’t have Tacu Tacu and refused to make it till we insisted and explained to them about our phone call and accepted to cook it. Now we know that we should’ve left because the so called Tacu Tacu wasn’t the real one. They only mixed beans with white rice but didn’t mash the beans and mix it with the rice and fried it, like it’s supposed to be. They even charged us around $12 for that, which is more than their most expensive plate that was around $9. Also, my mom ordered Aji de Gallina, and it had white cheese, which any peruvian person knows it’s not cooked like that. It tasted very cheese, which is not an ingredient for Aji de Gallina. The meat seamed to be bad because it had a whitish color, even though it was a steak and, in my case, it had soy sauce because I ordered Tallarin Saltado but still bad meat and taste. We were very disappointed and will not return.
OMG best restaurant small but the food taste amazing. I’m Puerto Rican and my fianc from Honduras and we love it. Much better than celenas and other Hispanic restaurant around kenner.
Really good food n friendly staff. I prefer authentic n this place hit the spot.
AWESOME food. This place was amazing. My husband has been to Peru a few times, and he said that the food tastes exactly the same. They import their potatoes from Peru, and they are SO much better than American potoatoes. The ceviche was excellent!!! Fresh corn tortillas were yummy, and the mango juice was incredibly fresh. I saw another review that said they hope gringos don’t figure out this place is there…I would have to agree 🙂
