Absolutely love this place and it gets better each time I have a chance to eat there. I had the opportunity to spend some time with the owner and anyone can see that he is proud of his product. Every time I go by, he has me try something different and I am always surprised that he remembers the dishes I have had before. His pride shows in the food, as it is always fresh and well seasoned. If eating at the restaurant, I suggest that you try the spiced tea, it’s awesome! The hummus is the best in Lafayette. The chicken schwerma, beef kabobs, and grilled lamb are my favorites. I’ve even converted my two picky eating teenage boys to this fantastic food!
This place is always satisfying. Pasta with spicy Alfredo and chicken is not the healthiest but tastes great. Buffet items fresh and service good. Fried eggplant great. Okra or tomato stew prolly uses canned tomatoes and thus very salty, unfortunately. Buffet is a little pricy at $13.
I moved to Florida a little over a year ago from Lafayette. I STILL crave the lentil soup. I have tried to recreate it countless times. I would pay money to have this recipe. Seriously. If anyone has it, please help me out here! I really miss this place!!!!
One of our favorite places to eat in Lafayette and some really great Greek food! Always clean and orderly, friendly and attentive staff. The complimentary lentil soup when you arrive is wonderful at any time, but when it’s cold out it’s even more so. We usually get the Sampler Dip appetizer and it comes with hummus, tzatziki, baba ganoush, and Greek dip with pita bread (white or wheat). I tend to either get the Gyro plate or Gyro pasta. My husband has tried different things and all have been very good. This place also has a buffet if you come earlier in the day.
My family&I are huge huge fans of Athena. We love everything about it. And the Lebanese tea is so great. Who has ever heard of a Lebanese buffet?? That means you can have as much gyro as you want!!!!!!!
