This is a typical build your own pizza kinda place. Staff isn’t very tentative (they didn’t let me know when my pizza was ready). They were more interested in visiting with non-customer guests. My pizza was okay. The experience was okay.
We got abut one get one free coupon in the mail and decided to give Blazes a whirl – hey it was a free pizza. The line goes to right when entering – not clearly marked for newbies.True there are not as many selections as the other craft pizza spot but the staff was very friendly and explained the process to us very well.We had the meat and the BBQ chicken. Yes for some $7.95 each might seem high but this isn’t little caesars. You can add anything you want – as much as you want for no extra charges. We found both pizzas very good. They do come very hot as they are fresh out of the oven.We will go back even without the coupon next time
I love pizza, it probably ranks as one of my favorite foods. I also really like the concept of the new make your own pizza places. For $7 I get my pizza made just the way I like it and not just how my picky kids will eat it. I’ve been to Pizza Artista a number of times enjoyed it, but my husband and I were very interested in trying out Blaze Pizza to see how it measured up. I decided to order the same kind of pizza that I usually order at Pizza Artista to really see how the two compare. The staff we encountered were polite but not overly helpful. The first thing I noticed was that Blaze did not have nearly as large of a selection of toppings as Pizza Artista and they didn’t have any local items like tasso, shrimp or andouille. They also didn’t have the prosciutto that I usually put on my pizza. I settled for spicy red sauce, mozzarella, feta, spinach, basil, bacon, mushroom and chopped garlic with a pesto drizzle which was very close to what I get at the other place. The kitchen staff seemed disorganized and I think they couldn’t figure out who my pizza belonged to because my husband and kids got theirs out but they never called out my name. I finally went to check and it was sitting there about to go out with a to go order. I told them that I thought that was mine and the guy looked relieved that I had come to claim it. The pizza was good but the crust was all burnt up around the edges and the sauce was pretty bland. They had put the spinach on top so it was singed and crispy. I like it better at Pizza Artista where they put the spinach at the bottom and just gets soft under all of the other toppings. The one area that Blaze is better is that they had a great selection of flavored lemonades that were really good. My husband and kids enjoyed their pizzas but it was unanimous that all of us preferred Pizza Artista. The staff is friendlier, they have more and better topping choices, more interesting specialty pizzas and just a better all around pie.
I really enjoy Blaze Pizza. I just love pizza. I think my adoration of the fast casual concept overflows into the stream of joy this place brings me. I mean, I can get a large one topping pizza at Pizza Hut for $7 on special which is twice as much substance and as nostalgia as summer sno cones, but being able to sit down with friends not having to wait and negotiate on pizza toppings is just great. We can all go get what we want and be enjoying each other’s company and delicious food with out any fuss or interruption from a server. It’s just a win win. Not to mention the pizza is pretty dang good.
Interesting concept here, and it is refreshing to build your own pizza exactly how you want it, and to be able to see the nutrition information. Very nice. Another strength is the lemonade which is Killer when mixed with either a little soda water or Sprite. Another great feature is their spicy red sauce. The reason I rated this place low is their crust. Obviously formulated to fire in 3 minutes, their regular pan crust is pretty abysmal. It’s the thickness of a thin crust (probably to get it to cook so quickly ) but it has none of what one would want from a thin crust–which would be crispness and flakiness. And so you’re left with a crust that could hardly be called anything more than a glorified pita. Merely a vehicle for the toppings.
Overall pretty good experience. If you have ever eaten at pizza artista it is the same concept but in my opinion not as good. The main difference with Blaze is you get unlimited tipping where as Artista you are limited to 7 who needs more than that anyways? I found Blaze was light on the toppings and when we went all of their drink machines were down. Overall good experience, will I return? Probably not, I’d rather Artisia and support a local business.
