A very disappointing $54 (+tip) breakfast which made me regret not going to Another Broken Egg.Service was perfunctory and my crab cake bennie ($17) was stone cold.
Our orders was incorrect and the food was cold. Most people seem to go for the create your own Bloody Mary and did come for the food. I had the crab cake Benedict and the poached eggs were cold and pre-cooked. The crab cake was very tasty so I had to give them at least a 2.
I have visited The Brick and Spoon several times at lunch and breakfast. I find it hard to review because sometimes its great and sometime its so so. Service is usually the culprit because generally the food is very good. I really love their fries served with parmesan and truffle oil. I highly recommend theKiller Creole Omelet and the Benedict Po-Boy. Both of these divine. Prices tend to run on the pricey side but compares with others serving high end brunches. I don’t know where they get their tasso and andouille sausage but it is the best. Drinks are great and price ranges from affordable to $20+ dressed out Bloody Marys.
Brick and Spoon is a paradox of sorts, with a modern menu that finds it roots in the simple but elegant brunch menu. The restaurant is characterized by the bloody mary her self. I love brunch and breakfast but I have been disappointed more than I care to admit from this potentially hit restaurant. Salt and sauce would cure many of the ails of this wondering concept.
We went to Brick & Spoon several times at their original location and were pleased with the food. However, we have been twice since they moved and have been disappointed with the food and the service both times. The first time we went I ordered an omelet with spinach bacon and cheese. It was basically eggs with a tiny bit of spinach a couple of small pieces of bacon and a smattering of cheese. Then a couple of weeks ago we went again and I had the Shrimp & Grits. The grits were a bit runny which I was okay with but the waitress looked at me like I was crazy when I requested a spoon. Service each time was inattentive and each time they got part of the order wrong. Too expensive for less than stellar food and service.
Went in for brunch. Ordered at 11:45 food did not make it to the table until 1:15. Everybody apologized, and food was OK. Will not go back.
Clean and great service! Th…. Clean and great service! The Oyster Benidict was really good.
