Extremely loud for their description of fine dining. So loud we paid for our drinks and mediocre appetizer before we cancelled our dinner order and left. Sounded more like a bar than a nice restaurant. The hostess and manager seemed indifferent to our complaint of the noise level and did not care to make our experience nice. Very disappointing.
Vermilionvillo is FANTASTIC in every way!!! Food, service, decor–has it all. We were fortunate to eat here three time during out stay in Lafayette. The food is perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. We were lucky and had Jacob as our server twice for dinner. He is a suburb server in every sense of the word, professional, witty, attentive, helpful and so very friendly. He is a total delight and asset to the restaurant. Each meal was excellent. The turtle soup outstanding!! The first night we both ordered the seafood gumbo and the gulf fish Acadien, both were excellent. The second night we both tried the turtle soup, oh yes, what a supreme soup! That night I decided to try the blackened Mahi Mahi, delicious! The fish was perfectly prepared. We were lucky that we were in town for Mother’s Day lunch. They had well thought out menu with good variety in choices. We stayed with the tried and true, turtle soup and Acadian fish. Dessert was Godiva white chocolate bread pudding which was terrific. The owners are hands on making certain everything is going well with all diners. We so enjoyed visiting with the owners, so friendly and welcoming. Everyone with whom we came in contact was friendly and made us feel welcome and appreciated. Thanks to the owners, chef, kitchen staff and servers for 3 memorable meals.
LOVE this place! I ate the filet stuffed with cheese and crawfish, it was DELICIOUS!! I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking for a great place to eat in Lafayette
Over rated. The food just isn’t that good and it’s pretty expensive. I did enjoy the atmosphere and service, however
Atmosphere is great. Love the exposed brick and the old house charm. However, the food did not taste fresh. Started with the crawfish beignets and the crawfish were rubbery and fishy tasting. Would have thought they would have been fresh during crawfish season. Then had the gulf fish Acadian. It was undercooked and not fresh, as it had a fishy taste as well. The orzo was really good and the best thing on the plate. Also had the banana foster cheesecake, which was excellent. Overall, we were disappointed with our first experience at Cafe Vermillionville. Will not be back.
Came alone on a summer Wednesday night and found the food, wine and service excellent. I chose the sampler app, turtle soup and the spinach salad, followed by the bananas foster cheesecake. The dessert was eh, a 5 on a 1-10 scale. The rest of my meal was a solid 8-9-well worth the expense. As others have said this place is beautiful-a great choice for a romantic dinner or a quiet dinner with friends. Glad a friend recommended it! Try the sampler app-it’s a clear 10
Classiest Restaurant in Lafayette. Very historic restaurant. An ante-bellum inn that was used by both the Yankees and Confederates during the Civil War. Wait staff is very friendly and professional, and food is good, if pricey. Turkey and Sausage Gumbo is good. Best economy at Lunch time menu.
