Awesome local spot with fantastic plate lunches. The only place in town that has really good BBQ, but anything on the menu is fantastic. Outside seating only, but that doesn’t take away from the rating because of how good it is!
This is one of the places from home I always crave when I’ve been gone too long! You order at the counter and either eat your food outside on the deck which can get a little hot in the summer or take it to go. I’ve never had anything here that wasn’t spectacular so you’re safe picking anything off the menu. What makes this place so so great is the people working there. The sense of Lafayette being one big family is especially strong when you’re at Johnson’s.
The barbecue here is really good. It’s just overpriced, in my opinion. I bought enough pulled pork and bread to make 5 (small to medium) sandwiches, 5 bags of chips, and half a bbq’d chicken. The bill was $50. If the food was a little less expensive, I would have rated it at least a 4, maybe even 4.5!
A great place for a south Louisiana / Cajun experience. Order at the counter inside. Sit down to eat at picnic tables on the large outdoor covered patio. Excellent chicken/sausage gumbo (but not available on weekends). Good, homemade boudin. Wide selection of smoked meats – pulled pork, chicken, brisket, sausage. Good food. With a real taste of the Cajun culture that makes this area so unique.
Well as a kid we go to Mr. Johnson store in Eunice all the time. Good to see his family kept the tradition alive he still on and out here and I love the French music playing on the old record player down home Cajun as it gets and awesome plate lunches
Have Bryn here on multiple occasions and find the people to be pleasing to talk to, like family. No matter what you choose to eat here, you’ll never leave hungry, and if you do, you can always get some to go.
Mediocre bbq is the norm in Lafayette and this place is no exception. I don’t see what the fuss is over. It’s not bad, it’s not good, it’s just OK.
