Like a previous reviewer stated old habits die hard. Back in the day, LaFondas was the place to be seen, to socialize and to drink. I have eaten at some great Mexican restaurants in Texas I find LaFonda’s food just so so. I had the beef Chile Relleno which is my favorite Mexican dish and it was just ok. My wife had Carne Asada and again it was just ok. Service is usually pretty good and the only drink to get is their trademark Margarita which is very good. I usually get a side order of pica de gallo which was bland and terrible. If you are looking for good Mexican food there are better options in Lafayette.
