Thank you to my cousin for recommending this place. She always finds the best place for donuts. Cozy place with super friendly staff. But most importantly, great donuts. The hot glazed is perfect. I also had a few kolaches which were great as well. I picked up a dozen mixed to bring to work and quickly became a hero. Don’t miss out on Meche’s when in Lafayette!
King Cake. King cake
Different kind of King Cake. We stopped in to try enroute from Houston to NOLA. The cake is good, very good. However, it is more like a big cinnamon roll than a king cake. Would we get it again? Certainly. However, stick with Haydel’s, Randazzos or McKenzie from Tastee for the real deal. The people here were real nice and helpful. We definitely recommend.
We were visiting lafayette and ordered King cakes to bring back to friends and called 3 days in advance they were so stale no one could eat them, had to throw them in the trash! I’m a Native from Lafayette and never had this experience ever! Huge disappointment and good money wasted!
Don’t use them to ship unless you want stale king cake!. Get several king cakes mailed this time of year. This is the Second one I received in an unenjoyable condition from meches two years in a row. I’m sure they may still make a great cake like when I was there living in town, but the cake is so bad my five year old and two year old won’t touch it. Yes I realize what your website says about the freshness of your cake and so I guess you should STOP shipping cakes cause it’s a disgrace to the wonderful flavor and tradition of sharing these cakes with family and friends.
