We visited Mels on a Sunday evening. We got a place to sit almost immediately. The decor and the ambience was very beautiful. The staff was okay. Our server probably had a tough day and was a little off. We ordered the Hamburger Steak and the Chicken Steak. The steak was well done, and it was about standard. It was tasty and the sauce was creamy. The mashed potato was good. The chicken on the other hand tasted a little bland and it wasnt too delicious. The fries needed some seasoning on them.I liked the quirky writings above the counters, and the lighting was also in tune with the whole theme of the restaurant. A lot of people complained about the washroom, so I didnt really take a chance. Overall, I had an okay experience.Cheers!
Ok so if you’re up late and need some food then this is the place to go–the only place to go in Lafayette actually. It’s a low brow diner with fun decor and unpretentious food. The star item is the homemade biscuits. Get em with butter and a side of boysenberry or black raspberry Amish jam (costs a tiny bit extra).
Food was disappointing! ! We came in to try in since it was late & diners offer a large variety. Our waitress was awesome, but the food was not hot, nor up-to-par. I asked for my eggs to be hard-scrambled….they weren’t. My french toast was orange-ish and didn’t taste like traditional french toast. Luckily, my 7 yr old ate it. His pancakes however; looked lopsided & still doughy.
Third time going and great service and food each time. Been there in the middle of the night after Christmas shopping, gone for lunch with coworkers, and been for dinner with the husband. Excellent service and good good each time. Had onion rings last visit and OMG they were the best.
So I ordered the country boy special… Eggs and chopped steak…. What they don’t tell you is they really mean eggs and hamburger no steak to be found
Bad customer service. I went to mel’s to treat my son to breakfast For his birthday Because he loves the pancakes. The waitresses had really bad attitudes.I guess because they were so busy. We want be going back.
Da Diner. Try the Chicken Fried Steak. Just about the only place in town that has it. It’s good too.
