I have now dined at Ruffino’s three times. My first experience was horrendous and I vowed never to return. However, due to circumstances outside of my control, I found myself seated once again, in that uncomfortably loud dining room. My date was seated right next to me and still we tried desperately to carry on a conversation over the din of the restaurant to no avail. House cocktails were mediocre at best. The server responsible for taking drink order and serving drinks shook the martini at the table with the enthusiasm of someone who is nearly falling asleep. Consequently, it was poorly shaken and lukewarm. I didn’t complain as this was consistent with my previous experience regarding drinks at ruffinos. My boyfriend and I shared an overpriced steak that was disappointingly unseasoned and bland, though cooked Rare as I ordered it. The wine selection is fairly impressive and complete with a sommelier in house to guide guests through selection. Despite the fact that the staff works in groups of 3 assigned to each table, most of the head servers appeared to be frazzled and overwhelmed. I had such high hopes for Ruffinos. I was disappointed again, not by one thing in particular, but by the aforementioned issues among others not listed. Also.. I don’t understand the complimentary cotton candy served to every table after entrees. I suppose it’s a conversation-starter. It is certainly unique; but to me, it feels misplaced and contrived. I would not be sad to see the cotton candy go away.

Wow. I’d give a 100 out of 5 if I could. The atmosphere is perfect. The service is excellentattentive, anticipatory, knowledgeable, and personable. The food is hands down perfection.I highly recommend the braised pork cheeks appetizer. I think I inhaled it in about 2 minutes. When you mix butternut squash, perfectly tender pulled pork and BACON jam, what can go wrong? If sharing though, (good luck with that) I’d say the dish might be slightly improved with something to put that delicious mixture on. Like bread, toast, crackers, something. It felt more like a ‘dip’ style of starter and I did feel a little weird just chowing down with a fork bite after delicious bite. But who am I to mess with perfection? This was followed by the cedar plank redfish that I had topped with jumbo lump crab. I mean really. Do you need me to find some adjectives for you? Just order it already. And how can I forget the bread pudding? And yes, it is very much ‘pudding’ unlike most of the other super dense and sometimes dry cakes you find elsewhere in Louisiana. The portion was perfect enough to offer a few bites of sinful sweetness without overindulging. Pair it with a superb coffee and you have yourself a nice cap to the evening. This place has set a new standard in Lafayette. Definitely worth the visit.

The most comfortable but elegant place to have dinner. Excellent wait staff and the food always impresses. We have had everything from steak to seafood, and love the bar area. Highly recommended.

Perfect all around dining experience! Excellent service with amazing dishes. Suggested bottle of En Route Pinot, was the perfect selection with our meal. The wild mushroom bread pudding that my steak sat on was amazing!

Just about every time the family wants to go somewhere nice, we come here. We love the music and the views, and we love the food even more!

Cedar Plank Baked Red Fish. Absolutely amazing. Simply done with roasted tomatoes and a pesto sauce. My wife and I went for our anniversary and they out done themselves. Great team of workers.
