Ever been out to dinner and having a great night, visiting with friends, good food, then something happens that almost ruins the evening?We arrived for our early reservation at Ruth’s, since the restaurant was mostly empty we had great service,at least 4 different waiters came to either fill water, bring bread or check on us. But sadly as the place filled up our great service fell off a cliff.The food – my beet salad was very good. Some friends had ordered a different salad asking for no onions – all got the red onions. When the waiter was told he just made a nervous laugh – no apology or offer to fix it.The steaks were served Ruth style on a piping hot plate in sizzling butter. Now it was a good steak – good not great. I had ordered desert and asked for it to go – we waited for about 10 minutes on it and just gave up. As our waiter was done with us and moved on. We caught him on the way out and he just said oh I forgot to put it in. The $175 for two should have gotten us great food and great service sadly it did not.

Best steak in Lafayette. Will cost a pretty penny. But for an excellent steak in a fine dining atmosphere, you just cannot beat this classic. I’ve read some of these negative reviews and they’re way off base. This is a first class restaurant with excellent steaks. On par with bigger city steakhouses, the only one we have in Lafayette. One tip: if you have a young one, ask for the off-menu kid’s meal – steak, side, & dessert for about $18.
