This place is a cool concept and fun to see them mix your ice cream, but we were not impressed with the final product. I was disappointed in their method of flavoring. There are tons of flavors and you choose the one you want and they add it to your cream, custard, or yogurt base. The flavoring is a syrup. There are quite a few natural flavors, like cinnamon, lemon, etc., but im not sure why an artificially flavored syrup has to be used. Why not use the real thing? It left my ice cream way too sweet. I felt like they were adding snowball syrup to a cup of cream. Sadly I’ll spend my ice cream money elsewhere.

Smooooth. Wonderfully smooth creamy texture, I guess because the instant freezing limits the ice crystals. It’s a little pricey, a little slow (its necessary because of the process). I went for a custard with pistachio favor–no extras. Will be back.

UPDATE 11/4/15: After trying Subzero a few more times with my kids, I am upping my original rating of a 3.0 to a 4.0. While I am still disappointed with their chocolate ice cream flavors, I tried their Citric Substance and that one is simply amazing! Tart Raspberry/Lemon ice cream with mixed berries and peaches. The staff is always friendly and energetic which adds to a really good experience.Cool concept; end result only so-so. Ended up at Sub Zero on their opening night without realizing it. Staff was friendly and the concept is very cool. You get to pick your size, base of Premium ice cream, low fat, yogurt, custard etc., flavor, how hard you want the ice cream to be and any mix ins and then bowl, cone etc. On my first visit I picked the small custard brownie batter in a bowl. It is wonderful watching them custom make your bowl of ice cream and then instantly freezing it. However the finished product was only okay. I expected the ice cream to be much creamier and smooth but it was very lumpy and wasn’t blended well. The taste was okay although I had expected more of a chocolate flavor. We chocked it up to opening night and the staff still training. We went back six weeks later and I ordered the small premium, Fudge chocolate in a bowl. Sadly, it was no better. The ice cream (both times I ordered it medium so it wouldn’t be too hard) was lumpy and not mixed well nor did it have a whole lot of chocolate flavor. The ice cream isn’t bad and the coolness factor of watching them make it is really fun. However, for my money, there are just better ice cream places in town.
