I used to be a huge fan of The French Press. A few years back, I was going there at least weekly and often multiple times a week. However, I just cannot bring myself to dine there anymore. The service has never been anything to write home about; But it has gotten progressively worse over the years, reaching a point that I certainly would call unacceptable. While the food (for the most part) is consistently good, (albeit unchanging, with a menu that has essentially been identical as long as I have been a patron)?–the waitstaff has spiraled downward to become one of the worst groups of servers in Lafayette. The majority of the servers are flippant, elitist, hipster college students–most of whom also share the appearance of someone who is grumpily nursing a hangover and would rather be dead than working at the French Press. I’ve never seen so many scowls in my life as on the folks who are employed there. As far as food goes, my #1 choice is always the breakfast sandwich with goat cheese along with a side of praline bacon and OF COURSE the poutine when it Is available. Yum. Honestly, I don’t plan to ever return as long as my opinion is being considered when selecting a place to eat out. No matter how good the food might be, the servers left a nasty taste in my mouth that overpowers even the boldest, most harmonious flavors on the menu.
Great spot!!Must check it out if your just passing through.. service, people, food, just the atmosphere is good to be in.. worth waiting for!!
Try the Sweet Baby Breesus!!! Nothing in the dish overpowers the other, just a taste of Heaven!! It wasn’t easy to find or to park. Put Don’s Seafood in your GPS and that should help. It is worth the search.
I had the french toast, which was stuffed with cream cheese and bananas and topped with fruit compote and my mom had a salad with fried chicken tenders on top. Both were delicious! Service was a little slow, but it was lunch time so that’s to be somewhat expected. Clean. Nice atmosphere. Kind of pricey. Think my french toast was $10 or $12 and my mom’s salad was $14. If I lived in Lafayette, I would be back!
The best eggs benedict ever, awesome, amazing,, the staff was quick and courteous,, I love the industrial look, I would highly recommend eating breakfast over there
One of the best breakfast/brunch spots in Lafayette. The photos should speak for themselves. Pancakes are huge, and with add-ins like blackberries and candied pecans, hard to refuse. But the real stars of the menu are the Cajun eggs Benedict, chicken and waffles, and boudin sliders. Breakfast sandwich is also great, and no matter what you order, you have to try the grits. Eating the delicious food here will make your soul richer,
