Love Tsunami! Probably my favorite restaurant in town. But that being said, I am a college kid. I love the downtown location and easy going atmosphere which makes it perfect for celebrations and events. The sushi is always fresh and you never have to worry about quality. In fact, one of the only places I will eat sushi from. Great drink selection and good staff. Only complaint would be that the prices are a little high, but you’re paying for location and scenery. Never had a bad experience though!!! Must try

Ok Sushi. Rouses has much better Sushi. Tsunami is just over-hyped, over-priced, and over-rated. There are some good rolls on the menu but why bother, just go to Rouses. Yes I am serious Rouses has the freshest, most delicious, most reasonably priced sushi in Lafayette, go try it.

Not as good as years past. Sushi is OK but nothing special. Many places in Lafayette to get better sushi. The bone-in ribeye used to be one of the best in town. Three of us had it tonight and all three steaks were overcooked and tasted like vinegar. Ridiculously bad for the price! Won’t be back.

Poor Service Average Sushi at best. Having been told that this was an excellent place and by far the best sushi in Lafayette, I’ll have to say my wife and I were very disappointed. We ordered a variety of rolls and some yellowtail sushi which is our favorite. Starting with the yellowtail, it was not as fresh as I like it and didn’t have that creamy melt in your mouth texture fresh yellowtail is known for. The description of the rolls were much more than what we actually got. The best one was the Jazz or maybe Hawaiian roll with kiwi, strawberry, salmon and tuna but it still was not as good as we expected it to be. The rolls were very nondescript and nothing special at all. Lack of competence in preparation and small portions of the main ingredients were most likely to blame. Our server was surly and inattentive. They have a nice space downtown and it’s obvious that the place is popular but compared to high end sushi places in major cities or my favorites in New Orleans and Ft. Worth this place doesn’t even come close. It’s the only sushi place we have tried in Lafayette so far and if it really is the best one as some say I definitely won’t be eating sushi in Lafayette. The food scene in Lafayette has definitely evolved for the better since I lived here in ’82 but sushi still seems to be a novelty and I don’t think the competition has allowed it to evolve to a point of greatness. I think most of the good reviews must have come from people that have not eaten much sushi. I’ve probably eaten in at least 50 different sushi places all over the U.S. in my life so I have lots of great places and experiences to compare. Some of them have been mind blowing great and some just OK. This place ranks below some of those that were just ok. It’s not a place where the food is inedible but in my opinion it’s just not worth a trip if you’re craving sushi.
