Saladddd. I never crave salad, but theirs is excellent. Have had all three locations, and even the campus one gets it right. I want some right now. The side salad is awesome, but get the salad that has fried bits of pita in it. Also, the hummus can be hit-or-miss, but is most often a hit. The pita bread is a little microwaved-tasting…it’s somewhat tough. My boyfriend swears by the falafel- I’ve found it occasionally too dry, but pretty good. He loves it. I will say that the falafel at the Pinhook location is far better than the falafel at the campus location. Also, have ordered the gyro plate twice and it was excellent both times (at the Pinhood location). Have only lived here five weeks, so it is pretty telling that I’ve eaten here at least once a week since arriving.

Terrible….Rip Off. I’m assuming the Zeus To Go place in the Main Street River Ranch development is affiliated with the other Zeus Cafe’s in Lafayette. If not the owner of Zeus Cafes needs to get this place to change their name pronto. This place is a slap in the face to the thousands of little independant Greek restaurants in the U.S. that serve traditional greek fare and gyros. Pick anyone of those and they are usually reliable with good decent food. In a word this place was horrible. My wife and I ordered two Gyro Plates which came with Hummus and a drink along with a single piece of warmed pita for dipping in the hummus. I also ordered a Greek Salad which they call a Feta Salad. The gyros were small and unremarkable. Usually after the meat is sliced off of the big piece on the verticle rotisserie they fry them on a flat top to warm them and give them a little crust. This place doesn’t have a flat top so they didn’t do that. (this place shares an inside space with a Subway Sandwich mini location like you see in convenience stores and it’s in River Ranch so I already know prices are going to be inflated) The sauce on the gyros wasn’t anything like the regular tzatziki sauce you normally get. It was awful. The tomatoes on the gyros weren’t ripe and as a matter of fact one of the two slices on my wife’s sandwich had the end of the tomato with the little nub where the stem had been! There were no onions! Your average gyro found in a mall food court are much better than what is served here. My wife wanted baba ganoush instead of hummus and there was a dollar upcharge for that. The guy saw us coming. Neither the hummus or baba ganoush were edible. The feta salad (which was supposed to be a greek salad) consisted of generic mixed salad of iceberg lettuce and carrot slivers but contained no cucumbers or pepperoncini. The tomato was two slices of the same unripe cardboard tasting tomatoes on the gyros. There were two black olives and I guarantee they used bottled dressing. There was maybe an half once of feta crumbles on this salad. So little an amount that I wasn’t even able to discern a feta flavor in the salad. Usually you get an overwhelming amount of feta cheese on greek salad at other places. The total for this meal was over $26!!!!! I know prices are going to be inflated because of the location but if you’re going to charge more you should give more. It was obvious that this place makes a habit of really skimping on ingredients and does as little as it can to prepare the food. I have no idea of whether or not the food here is anything like the food served in the regular Zeus Cafe locations but I don’t even care to find out. This place was so bad and such a rip-off that I won’t even consider giving the other places a try. They get zero stars from me.

Burnt Food and Slow Service. First time visit today and definitely will NOT go back. Chicken shawerma and gyros were extremely burnt. Slow service and credit card machine was down so it took almost 15 minutes to pay out. Having managed restaurants for years I was shocked that I didn’t get an apology from the manager on duty– pretty standard for any restaurant.

Good Flavor, Very Fresh. I have eaten at many greek/lebanese restaurants over the years, including Greek town in Detroit, and in my opinion this is a very good greek restaurant. The food is always very fresh, cooked to perfection, and the flavor is amazing! I don’t understand some of the reviews saying this place is not so great – the freshness of the foodis above par. The authenticity is also quite good. They have 7 very successful locations, so obviously they are doing something right! Someone else mentioned they used black olives instead of Kalamata olives – I don’t know where they ate but it wasn’t here. I have been eating here for several years, and never had anything BUT Kalamata olives. I love them, and they have won awards for their food, which has to say something! As for pricing, I consider them very reasonable – I got twice as much food than I would have at a local fake mexican food restaurant for the price. Just my opinion – and we all have them! I say go, and enjoy!

I keep coming back. My family and I enjoy ethnic cuisine, and Lafayette has many to choose from. Zeus on Pinhook is by far the best. I was once a frequent at another local Middle Eastern and noticed that hours after my meal I would have an upset stomach. Never have I encountered that issue there. Always fast and fresh. 5 stars! Bravo!
