Great Chicken. We took a chance on this place after reading some discouraging reviews about service and race…But the fried chicken and catfish were awesome. Unfortunately they were out of shrimp, boudin balls and red beans & rice. Being from Texas we wanted that Louisiana experience of the above mentioned items, but the fried chicken was sufficient and being out of some of the most famous La items only makes us want to come another time. We will come again.
Bomb A** Chicken!!!. This is the best fried chicken ever. Spicy & juicy…tastes like Grandma’s for sure. Fries and okra are always right. Tried the red beans & rice last night…AMAZING! I would recommend this place to anyone. Be sure to look at the board for specials when you go in!!!!
The worst fried chicken. Taste like it is fried too long or the grease is old. Hamburgers are ok but overpriced. Fried okra is good. Don’t expect friendly service if you are a white person.
Eat Here!. As good as the reviews would lead you to believe if not better. Almost everything comes out of the deep fryer and the kitchen staff at Ball’s knows how to use it. This restaurant would be deservedly legendary in any Southern city. If you’re in Lake Charles don’t miss it. Prices are in the fast food range but the food is infinitely better. I can’t wait to try the seafood. A fish burger is my next meal at Ball’s.OK, the first 2 fish burgers were most excellent. The third, ordered on a Saturday night (10/20/2012) 1 hour before closing was horrible. So bad I haven’t been back. The oil was extremely dirty and breaking down. Food had an overwhelming burnt nutty taste. The fish was not crunchy and the grease soaked breading was wet and mealy They replaced my first sandwich and the second (cooked in a different fryer) was no better.The fries were limp and grease-soaked as well.I’d recommend eating at Ball’s M-F and not on Saturday, particularly near closing.
This is the best Fried Chicken hands down. It seasoned to the bone and juicy. The fish and shrimp are wonderful, the batter is like nothing I every tasted. Boudin balls are excellent. Food is fresh and good service. Thanks Balls I’ll be back again and again………..
