Fun, family-friendly place; kids enjoy the big ‘sandbox’ area. Food, however, is hit or miss (mostly miss). We’ve been there a few times, and our meals did not meet expectations, but it is a fun place to hang out with friends.
My friend and I were in Old Mandeville to eat at the Broken Egg. However; it was inconviently closed that day. So, we strolled down the block and entered the Beach House. It seemed nice, but the wait staff were all hovering around the host station, and most were not wearing anything to let me know they were employees. The food was the worst part. We both had the grilled chicken tacos. The chicken was so dry. I am positive it was not cooked when we ordered it. I am a restaurant person. I know exactly how things work. The black beans that are served on the side were so nasty. Cold, watered down, and very bland, with a pile of cheese on top that didn’t melt.
Really enjoyed it.. Wife and I ate there yesterday for the first time. Staff was very friendly, atmosphere was great, and food was delicious. We will definitely be back again.
Well… Really Disappointing….. I ate here just the other day and was VERY disappointed with my experience. I ordered a shrimp po-boy and queso dip. It took a long time for my order to come out even though it was 4 in the afternoon and dead in the place so I was expecting my food to be pretty awesome. I opened my po-boy to put a little tartar sauce and was sad when I saw there were only 5 shrimp on a huge piece of bread. I was expecting a little more, I suppose for 11 dollars. Now, I could get past the 5 shrimp if they were 5 awesome shrimp, but no, they were 5 very rubbery overcooked shrimp with soggy batter that fell off before even making it to the sandwich. Looked more like a boiled shrimp po-boy. Then the queso… It was really thick and kind of in between melted and still cold, but it tasted ok. All I can say is if you are going to offer a shrimp po-boy, it better be outstanding with plenty of tender, crispy shrimp because you are competing with 50 other restaurants around the area that serve the same thing. Our server was really sweet though. She made the fact that I had terrible food a little less painful. The only reason why I may return to this place is because of the kid friendly atmosphere and big sandbox, but we will just order drinks next time.
Terrible food, good vibe. The food sucks.. that’s it. If you go you’re going it does have a good vibe, but the food SUCKS.
Only if you have kids. There’s a large fenced in sand box where the kids can play and all manner of kid restaurant shenanigans are acceptable. The service reflects the fact that this is your highschool aged server’s first job and the food is similar to a TGIFridays.
Open air, good for families. Menu is meh, but atmosphere and service make up for it! Sand it for kids, good cocktails.
