We sat on the patio which was surprising pleasant for August in Louisiana. The view was beautiful and the food was delicious. The waiter, Billy, was interactive and fun. I had the Jumbo Soft Shell Crab with hollandaise and lump crab meat. It was superb! My sweetheart had the shrimp and oyster platter which was excellent portion size was good and everything was fresh

Rips has been around for quite some time now…. awesome lakefront seating, but you can eat inside or at the bar also. The crab & Brie soup was rich & yummy. The grilled trout with crab cake/ buerre blanc sauce was on point also. Loved sipping on my mint julep on the front porch watching the lake activity. Will most definitely be back!

Rip’s delivers an excellent dining experience in ambiance, service, food quality, taste and presentation. The location is beautiful Lake Ponchartrain and the view from the veranda in the evening is gorgeous. The main dining area inside is equally nice. We sat in front of the fireplace in the main dining room. Our server Craig was helpful and personable, he gave us excellent service. The starter salad was topped with croutons made in house, always a nice touch.I ordered the Jumbo Softshell Crab platter. The crab was fried, and topped with lump crab and hollandaise sauce. It was accompanied by sauted vegetables and new potatoes. This is one of the best dishes I have ever eaten in my life. The lump crab had a sweet back taste that was indescribably sumptuously wonderful. The fried crab had a citrus salty taste that really satisfied the palette. The savory creamy hollandaise complimented both the crunch of the soft shell crab and lump meat. The vegetables were quite good, and potatoes had a nice crusty crunch sauted in. This was a flawlessly executed dish.My companions ordered the Ruby Red Trout, and the Fried Catfish Filets respectively. The Ruby Red Trout was served with a crab stuffing and seafood cream sauce. I tasted a bite and experienced a riot of rich crab, trout and cream sauce flavor. The fish was flaky perfect with a tender texture, and the velvety sauce was the extraordinary compliment to the trout and crab. Excellence in execution bar none.My dinner companion ordering the Fried Catfish graded the dish equally delicious as what I tasted. Please go visit the great chefs and staff at Rip’s for a uniquely excellent dining experience. This is the definition of destination dining.
