Neighborhood type place tucked underneath an elevated roadway (Causeway Blvd). Attached to a bar (Gennaro’s). We had onion rings, roast beef poboy & surf/turf poboy (shrimp with roast beef debris). All were very good. Poboy bread is soft, gets somewhat mushy under the roast beef gravy – but I actually like it that way. I’d give Bear’s a solid 7 out of 10.
The gravy fries with cheese were really good. The roast beef poboy was very tasty and the grilled shrimp poboy was excellent. The staff were very nice and it has a laid back vibe. Will be trying this place again I’m sure.
I’m not an expert on roast beef po boys, but I LOVED this sandwich. The flavor is there, the au jus is delectable, and with the gravy fries on the side, I’m gonna sleep well tonight. My only complaint is small. I think 2.75 for a soft drink is a bit high, but hey, that’s the worst I can say about this place.
BEST ROAST BEEF EVER, BUT WILL NEVER GO BACK DUE TO RUDENESS OF CASHIER, FRIDAY 7/17 AT ABOUT 7:15 PM. PLACE WAS EMPTY, TOLD HER I THOUGHT THEY WERE BUSY BECAUSE I WAS TOLD MY ORDER WILL BE 1/2 HOUR. SHE REPLIED THAT NORMALLY I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT AN HOUR OR MORE TO WHICH I REPLIED I WOULD HAVE GONE ELSWHERE. SHE SAID THAT WOULD BE FINE SINCE YOU HAVE PLENTY OF BUSINESS SO I WOULDN’T BE MISSED. HAVE BEEN CUSTOMER FOR YEARS GOING BACK TO COVINGTON ON CAUSEWAY. I KNOW YOU DON.T NEED ME BUT THAT’S HOW IT ALL STARTS TO DECLINE.GOOD LUCK.
This place has the best catfish poboy in town and I’ve tried quite a few. The gravy cheese fries and the cabin style cheese fries are also the best in town. The service is good too. Highly recommended.
