Shrimp Po-Boy. Fried shrimp were perfect
Nicely seasoned crawfish. Congrats to Bevi for making the recent 10 best places to get crawfish. Nice place, spiced right, spicier than some, a little milder than others that overdo it, two servers staying very busy taking care of about 20 customers at six tables, a few spots at the bar, plus a stream of folks picking up to-go orders.
Very disappointing poboys… We tried it when I was visiting family in Metairie. Ordered three poboys – two shrimp and one mixed (meat and shrimp) – to take home to enjoy. Very disappointing. The shrimp was okay but there simply wasn’t enough. You’ve had poboys? The shrimp is always falling on the side out of the bread. Not with our orders. And the bread? Mediocre to poor. The bread IS the poboy as we all know.
So disappointed. After reading reviews and today reading another great review I decided we had to try this place. Storming so we called in the order to pick up and bring home. Parking is very limited. We ordered shrimp plate and catfish plate. The fries were good, the shrimp and catfish were almost burned. I cannot believe that any cook/chef at any restaurant would have let this food go out in this condition. Just to look at the catfish and shrimp you could tell it was way overcooked, the color was so close to being burned. My husband said maybe the grease was too old and the french fries were cooked in a different fryer but….why would you serve this to a customer? I don’t know if we can consider a second chance, the cost of the two plates was very close to $30. and for them to see what they were putting out and not care? I have never seen food so close to being burned, it was so dark they had to see. I am so disappointed. Wish I had taken a picture to show, oh well, geez.
Terrific Seafood. The shrimp and oysters on the po-boys are so carefully cooked and dressed, and so are the crawfish and everything in the gumbo. It’s old school seafood atmosphere in a new and very clean environment. Total favorite.
A great hidden gem. It may be right on the corner of Harang Ave and Airline Hwy. but if you blink when you pass you might just miss this little gem of a place. While it may not be a large place the food was big on flavor and the staff was very accommodating. I would recommend Bevi Seafood to anyone who wants a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy some great seafood.
Ate there for dinner last night shared chicken sausage gumbo,catfish platter. Gumbo rich flavorful,great on a cold night,catfish fried perfectly generous portion,potato salad n fries great. Hubby had shrimp n grits wonderful rich delicious sauce on the shrimp. My son had the shrimp po boy best he has had in a long time, shrimp fried like we do at home,bread awesome! Will def be back!
