If there is a line, WAIT. Totally packed, totally covered in powdered sugar, totally worth it.
Not quite the same ambience as the French Quarter but the hot fluffy sugar dredged pillows and chicory coffee still fill the bill. All for under $5. Drown your Saints loss sorrows in sugar and dough.
There’s a drive thru!. I drive past this place all the time and never noticed there was a drive thru. Great for picking up a sunday morning treat for under $3.
Great Beignets. The beignets are a must-try while in New Orleans, and if you don’t feel up to braving the crowds, the location in Metairie is just as good, and much quieter.
I’m from Houston and we have a Crescent City Beignets, who’s owners are from Louisiana, that has more variety AND a better flavor. You can also order in different quantities. It ranges from the powdered sugar, to cinnamon and even chocolate covered beignets. Not to mention the beignet strips! Plus they give u honey to add on top. Don’t get me started on the hot chocolate; free refills!
My family often visit the 4700 location, we were disappointed tonight. After spending $26 we noticed one of our cafes were missing. When we returned to the drive thru they exchanged my mocha for the cafe because they didn’t charge us for it. Really, are they going to sell it?
Inconsistent. When Cafe Du Monde does it right, its cafe au lait and beignets can’t be beat. But after many, many purchases there at the drive-thru window, I’ve found with great regret that more often than not, they do the beignets wrong. Mainly, they very often crimp the beignets prior to or during frying, causing them to absorb grease and become crunchy rather than soft and chewy — more like pork cracklins than beignets. Also, the last time I went there — and probably the last time I will go there — I got home only to find that my order of three beignets included only two beignets. So it’s not that big a deal, but what would I get next time?
