Great service and good food!. We were a little leery about a place like this because we are very picky eaters. Kids love breakfast food especially after two hard games of soccer.Oh my they were just amazed at the size of the pancake. All five of us ate and it had plenty left over. It was not greasy and didn’t even need syrup. Seafood omlet and sauce was wonderful. Jambalaya was fantastic! Salad was decent. We asked for all food not to be cooked with oil and butter and waitress said they don’t. She was right. Food wasn’t greasy and very good quality. They use real eggs, yay! The only thing I didn’t care for was the grits but the kids loved them. So this is definitely a place we will return. Everyone at this place is so kind and will do anything to make you happy! Brittany was awesome!Food comes quick which is awesome cause kids were starving!
Love it!. I was wary of City Diner on our first trip in because I’d read a lot of bad reviews regarding the service. We’ve been three times since then, and I can’t say that I’ve ever experienced bad service. They’re a little more rough than perhaps some people are used to, but it’s a diner? What do you really expect? All three times, our server was friendly and kept our drinks filled and plates cleared. The pancakes. Oh god the pancakes. They’re the size of a pizza. One will feed at least two people if you get nothing else – three or four if you order other items. The fried steak with sausage gravy is amaaaazing. The meatloaf is also good. But those pancakes. We’re about to re-heat our leftover one from last night for tonight’s dinner. Just butter up a non-stick pan and flip it over a couple of times and it’ll taste exactly like it did at the diner. 🙂
Beware: They do not deliver at 2 am. They do not serve Alfredo pasta with shrimp, although it is listed on the menu, and are too busy to clarify which items they were serving at 2 am.
Looooove this place. Giant pancake is delicious and the bottom of the bowl is bowl licking good! My husband and I come here often…love this place
I thought I’d give this place a try since I was staying at the Courtyard around the corner…what a disaster! The coffee was good but that’s as far as I got with breakfast…understaffed as they had two ladies (one with bad attitude, making excuses) waiting all tables and counter spots…they had three seemingly lazy or on-caring kitchen staff not willing to lend a hand to get things moving. In the 15 minutes I wasted there, 8-10 other peopled baled that were waiting on a table to be bused…the food looked good but I’ll never know. By this time it was lunch and I stepped next door to Ron’s Gumbo Stop where the food and Svc are top notch!!
Slow Service. The service is friendly, and I enjoy the food. I had the stuffed pancakes today and tried the Big Country Breakfast another time just to see what it was like. Their servers are too busy though. Today, an hour passed from the time I walked in to when I left, and I ordered within 5 minutes. It was just me, I only got the pancakes and a drink, and I sat at the bar. I spent more than 15 minutes waiting for them to bring my bill.Might eat there again, but it will only be when I’m with someone and want to kill time.
Absolutely terrible! Wings were beyond dry. Crawfish touffe & gumbo were disgusting and sour-tasting. Red beans and rice were bland and mushy at best. Literally the only thing we could eat were the loaded cheese fries, probably because it’s hard to screw that up. Stay away from anything but breakfast here.
