It has been close to 20 years since we have been here last prior to tonight. The food and service remain impeccable. It is not hard to figure out why this place has been in business for so long. We rolled out of here in a food coma. Everything we had was very good. We highly recommend.
I would like to start by saying this was the second time going to the restaurant. We had a 7:30 reservation and were not seated until around 8 40 pm. When we asked the owner where was our table he said he didn’t have a large table to seat us that he could put 2 table s side by side. This was a birthday celebration and we wanted to all sit together. After being seated it took quite some time before the grandson of the owner approached our table. We were never asked it we would like something to drink and we had no napkins or silverware. At. 10 00pm which was 2 1/2 hours from our reservation time here comes the food. I asked for my steak to have a warm red center. I chose at that time to have mine boxed and left the restaurant. Today I had to cook by steak at home because it was RAW. I paid for this experience and will NEVER return to this restaurant. I realize that you may need to wait a few minutes when you have make reservations but this was UNCALLED FOR.. SO if you read my review I would suggest that you go else where. The food is not worth the prices, they are many other restaurants in the area.
I think I would give the food a 3.5/4 and the atmosphere/experience a 5. I always get the many course special when I go and it never seems like they stop giving me food. The owner and the servers have always been very very nice. I love to go with my family and make a whole night of it. I have never had a complaint about the food but I am not crazy about their soup. Sometimes their fresh pasta tastes REALLY REALLY good and sometimes it’s just ok. The trout payton is awesome and so are all their appetizers!
Went with group of 15 & had good service. Food was excellent & plentiful …. We did not leave hungry. Solid wine list with fair pricing. We’ll be back soon
Tried to Like It. Well, to start I am a big fan of Sal and Judy’s restaurant in Lacombe. After all, it is run by Sal Impastato. However, Impastato’s in Metairie (run by a different family member) seems very different. I guess to be successful in Lacombe, you must provide a good product. In Metairie, volume of customers will keep you in business. So, my wife and I dined here recently, and we expected a similar experience to Sal and Judy’s. However, the restaurant missed the mark on many fronts. First, the food was just not good. The salad was just lettuce and tomato wedges with a very bland, cheap tasting ranch dressing on a small plate for $7. The trout with crab topping was actually pretty good to me, but it was doused in butter. I didn’t mind that, but I’d be surprised many people would agree with me. The asparagus was bland and minimal, and the wife’s Alfredo noodles tasted just like buttered egg noodles with no salt. The roll and butter was likely the best part of the meal. The service was also pretty rough. They came by at minimal times and didn’t really seem to care that we were there. I don’t really expect to be catered to, but I’m sure others would slam them for this.As for atmosphere, I don’t know if it is the bright lighting or just the regulars, but the place is very loud. It also must have a special for kids because everyone seemed to bring their kids there. There is no music playing and everyone seems to be literally screaming out their conversations. The customers all seemed really nervous or just unrelaxed. It was a very uncomfortable experience.I don’t know what else to say. It’s a one and done for us, and we won’t go back. It may just be a cultural difference, but we did not find the place to be worth the money even if it were average priced.
Great Food Poor Service. Food was great. Service was poor. Never felt like they even cared that I was at their restaurant. Half of eatinf out is the service and the server making you feel special. My wife and I would not eat there again.
Ideal Italian. Fresh pasta with old world charm with great wine selection.Being in New Orleans, you will get selections that include seafood.Very good coffee and desserts.
