Just ate some tacos on corn tortillas and they were delicious!! The jalapeos were dangerously hot, but still yummy. Same price I would have spent at Taco Bell for a meal but 1000x better quality!

‘Extra’ Toppings. I have always loved Izzo’s…especially the one on Veterans Blvd. In Metairie, LA. However, something seems to be amiss with the place as of late.I went in there for a quick bite before work the other day. I decided to try a quesadilla. The order took a rather long time but I wasn’t worried. Everything in the New Orleans area requires a lot of time to complete. My order finally arrived. I bit into it and ….BOOM…raw tomatoes. I did not order tomatoes. I am allergic to raw tomatoes! I swallowed and immediately returned the order. They remade it although they put up a bit of fuss. The new order took over 15 minutes to arrive at my table. Surprise! Raw tomatoes! I did not order raw tomatoes.I returned the order again. Keep in mind I have to be at work. I told the guy at the register that the order was wrong again. I said I had to go to work and could I just have my money back. As he was refunding the order I told him very quietly that if the workers didn’t want to remake the quesadilla then they should have just told me as much because I was going to be forced to go to work with no dinner. The guy offered to make me a burrito that I could take with me. As he was making it he grabbed a handful of raw tomatoes, even though I did not order them, and plopped them atop the cheese. I asked him to remove them due to a food allergy. He was able to pick each and every tomato off of the burrito.I asked why they added extra toppings that a customer didn’t order. He said the tomatoes (pico de gallo) were standard. No! This is a make-your-own establishment. There should be no standard toppings added without customer approval. That’s just my opinion, however. So, if one goes to Izzo’s one should expect to find extra toppings. If one has ANY food allergies Izzo’s should be avoided at all costs. It could be a fantastic place but the hired hands need to cease adding unordered extras.
