Customer Service is always incredibly guy wrenching. These employees could not be any more rude to customers if they were getting paid to do so. Please get attitude adjustments.
Good and bad. Our customer service experience was mostly good. One person ignored us, but the other person working was incredibly friendly and helpful. The items in the cases left much to be desired. Most of it tasted old, except for the doberge squares, which were wonderful (particularly the chocolate ones!). The cupcakes were definitely old – the cake was hard and dried out. The petit fours were also pretty dried out and had far too much almond flavor for my tastes. If I go back, it will only be for the doberge. But seeing as how I can make doberge cake myself from the original recipe that Gambino’s uses, maybe not.
Terrible Customer Service. I ordered 2 cakes for a Mardi Gras party. They both came smashed and broken. They wanted the cakes shipped back for a credit, but I was already out of town. I sent pictures but that wasn’t good enough. Do not use them!
Bad Customer Service.. I ordered a King Cake for a party. The cake came in and was the completely wrong flavor. It was praline an cream cheese and tasted gross. When I asked Gambino’s for a refund they told me that I would have to ship they opened cake back to them in order to prove it was the wrong flavor. Since it took them over a week to get back to me I know longer had the cake and even if I did, who would ever make you ship an opened cake back. They never apologized or even admitted making a mistake. Will never order from them again to due to bad customer service.
A good bakery with poor customer service. On February 5, my daughter ordered a king cake from Gambinos ($55) to be delivered to Baltimore for her sisters 40th surprise birthday party. The cake ended up being the big surprise and a very disappointing one. Tracking the package indicated that it had been left on the front doorstep, but we found the cake several hours later by the garage door, left upside down in bad weather. It was crushed, the purple sugar had spilled out of its container and turned black, and there was no green sugar in the box. It was not a cake we could serve to our guests at this very elegant New Orleans themed dinner party. Upon contacting Gambinos and talking to three representatives, their decision was to stick to their no refund policy because the cake had not been returned. Who would have thought that it was going to be necessary to return the damaged cake? In spite of my sending photos of the cake, Gambinos refused to issue a refund and begrudgingly offered instead (after two phone calls and two e-mails) a $20 credit towards a future order. THERE WILL BE NO FUTURE ORDERS.What is most disturbing about this experience is that I never once received any word of apology from Gambinos, only repeated admonishment for my failure to comply with their policy, which is not posted on their website, by the way. According to their way of thinking, I was the one at fault!So, would I recommend Gambinos? Absolutely Not! A good bakery that knows so little about customer service is not worth dealing with. There are plenty of good bakeries in New Orleans and I would be willing to bet, they treat their customers right.
Not happy. Don’t try the Cannoli’s . They are not creamy and I think the ones I bought had been there awhile. Stiff filling, with an off putting taste. The cakes are good , but for an Italian bakery I expected better Cannoli’s .
