Fantastic experience tonight at Kanno. The one thing you notice immediately the is pride that the owner takes in his establishment and product. He is happy to share his knowledge and explain all the menu options. Everything is fresh and prepared with care. This one will be on the New Orleans rotation going forward.
Blue Crab Yuzu Salad. My friend and I love this place. He customizes her roll (cooks it for her, she won’t eat raw. One day.) Been to most of the sushi restaurants in Metairie; this is my favorite. We tried the Blue Crap Yuzu Salad and it was delicious. Light and refreshing. Yuzu is a citrus. The salad is a combination of apple and cucumber (I think) with a few greens, The dressing is a light vinaigrette of the yuzu juice, a little sesame oil and a little sugar. That is pretty much it. We had to ask if it even had sugar, because we weren’t sure, having never had yuzu before. The blue crab meat sits on top. It was very light and refreshing, went great with our regular rolls that we normally enjoy. A little pricey, but it was a nice treat that we look forward to enjoying again.
