What the hell happened?. Little Tokyo was one of my favorite sushi spots in Metairie, but I have no idea what happened since their relocation. The quality has gone so downhill, along with the service, and the prices have gone up a good bit. Now don’t get me wrong… I’m not one of these people that doesn’t understand inflation or what a huge undertaking it is building a new place, not to mention the money it took, but what is the point of having a large expansive menu & new digs without the quality or service that made you successful in the first place. I’ve tried giving this place the benefit of the doubt on more than a few occasions & I do not mind paying good money for good food, but with what is going on here I’ll stick to some of the other Little Tokyo’s or other places entirely.
Service is a bit slow but I love it here! Everything is delicious, fresh, and made to order 🙂
Pretty good! Nice scenery . Loved the edamame hummus. Prices are reasonable. Def will return 🙂
Whim-sical. I went here on a whim after shopping at Plato’s Closet. The girls there said it was super great, and I have to agree.I used to work in BR and there’s one sushi place that has my heart. Sadly, it’s not feasible to drive 1 1/2 hours to BR for sushi (or is it? I mean, I am an adult. I can do what I want, right?) I’ve been looking for a replacement, but after the letdown that was Mikimoto, I wasn’t sure I was ready to try again. But I just put myself out there and gave it a shot. Can I just say the decor is ON POINT? I’m 24 and it was all anime or VG characters I recognized. Wish my hirigana reading was up to snuff, because I have no idea what Mario is saying in that one painting. Oh well. The food was really innovative and fun. The only downside, which is really more of a problem with me than the food, is I ordered these rice cake things I had NO IDEA how to eat. I was going to ask for directions, but my server was busy and too hot to be stupid in front of, so I just tried my best and probably looked like a moron. Womp womp womp. But seriously, I like this place. I see a lot of the reviews complain about how long food takes to come out, and I sadly have to agree. I went on a Friday afternoon and there was literally no one else there. About 5 minutes in, a family of 4 came in, but it still took about 25 minutes for my food to come out. And when it did, though some of the stuff I ordered was really supposed to be an appetizer, it all came out at once. As a server, I get food timing is rough, and truly I didn’t mind because I like having my food all spread out in front of me like a Valhallan feast, but I know most people aren’t into that. I can’t imagine what this place is like when it’s busy. But I think part of it is the presentation is so impeccable, the chef probably has high standards. But maybe they need to consider downsizing the menu or the presentation, or both. I care about presentation and options, but when people are hungry, they are HUNGRY. A long menu for typically slow times where the chef can showcase fun dishes could still work too. Just putting some options out there, y’all.
Will never go here again. To go order took 45 minutes. Sat at the bar and waited while 3 people that came in after me were served! No organization or management here. Rude and aggravated employees. Something I thought New Orleans had improved on…I was wrong.
Little Tokyo is by far my favorite sushi place in town. Not only do they have several locations but they are also open late, which is nice for my busy life. Unlike most sushi places their special rolls aren’t just normal size with special ingredients but are GINORMOUS size with special ingredients. Definitely worth your dollar. The sushi is so yummy. It is a fantastic dance party of flavor in my mouth. Little Tokyo is the place to go if you want great sushi for a good price. Not only is the sushi always very fresh and the flavors very exciting, but the atmosphere is accommodating for both kissy kissy date night or a rowdy night with a group of BFFs. Check it out sushi fans, you won’t regret it.
Pretentious and Overpriced. We had rude, unprofessional service. They seem like they’ve raised their prices with the move up causeway. They spoke very poorly of their Veterans location, which has much better service, much better food, and is cheaper.
