Very Disappointing!. Very sad when you are made to feel like you are a bother to the person who is taking your order when you are just trying to spend your money and a support a local business. We were excited to try this bakery, but were very disappointed with the attitude of the girl at the counter. We were disappointed once again when we got home. I got a large chocolate cupcake which turned out to be very stale and my husband had a macaroon which was okay but the croissants that we got were so try and not flaky and buttery as a croissant should be. We will not be back.
Underwhelmed. Ever in search of the perfect pastry, today I stopped in Maurice’s…I will not be back. I tried:Cheese croissant: The dough was breadlike; not the wonderful flakey, buttery typical croissant pastry. The cheese filling was tangy and lightly sweet- very nice. The ends were dipped in grated cheese…parmesano reggianno, I think. The salty flavor was a nice touch but couldn’t save the less than stellar pastry. I prefer La Boulangerie by far.Fruit tart: It looked lovely. I only took 2 bites. The crust was very hard and very sweet. It ruined the whole thing.Service: maybe my biggest gripe is the service. The shop was completely empty. The lady working there was seated at one of the back tables having a conversation. She seemed annoyed to wait on me. I was going to try one or two more things but her attitude iced me out of the place. She was annoyed I didn’t order more…I got a snarky ‘Is that it?’. Ummmm…yup, that’s it.The best part of my stop to this little plaza was discovering the Nicaraguan cafe next door. See my glowing review of Fritanga Purisima Concepcion.
Amazing people. Amazing food. I love this bakery!
Good, not great. Prices have gone up in recent years, but they are a solid bakery.
