I voted ‘not like’ not because it was terrible, it was just ok. It is kid friendly (although it only has tables, no booths. The kid menu is priced well, good choices & portioned fine. The bread they serve is perfectly crisp. The eggplant bites are small and tasty. Their marinara is very good. House salad is iceberg with tomato. The chicken florentine is good, the chicken is cooked well. The redfish almandine is not a typical ‘almondine’. It is basically a deep fried piece of redfish sprinkled with almonds. No sauce on it at all. The fried chicken is cooked perfectly but the batter is not seasoned.

A terrible experience. Arrived shortly after 11 a.m. on Sunday morning. We were seated at a table very close to door. Everyone entering and exiting passed by the table and those waiting to be seated were standing next to table. After being seated, we were told that the kitchen was switching from breakfast to brunch and we would have to wait until 11:30 to order. The waitress explained that the kitchen was too small to do both so they were no longer serve breakfast and would not serve brunch until after 11:30. Unfortunately, we decided to wait. I ordered fettucini and chicken. When the dinner arrived I was served a mediterrean chicken salad. I would NEVER have ordered that dish as I do not like olives, feta or red onions which were a big part of the dish. Reluctantly I ate what parts I did like so that I would not have to wait another 20 mins for the correct dish. We had already been at the restaurant close to an hour. Before leaving I went to the restroom. The restroom had 2 stalls and only one had a door which was occupied. Spent almost $60 for brunch for 3 and had a meal that I did not like and did not order. I will never waste my money here again.

A Dressed up place with Bad Food. My family went there for my father’s birthday. What a bad decision. The dishes sounded great on the menu. Then they came to the table, what a shame it was. Nothing looked as described. Then we started to taste the unspectacular food. Half of our dishes went back to the kitchen because they were just awful. The rude manager came out with this look of disgust and a foul tone of voice. She was not apologetic or sympathetic, just rude. They need to train there staff on proper customer service and how to appropriately handle issues. It was just a over all bad experience.

Don’t Judge A Book. I had heard the Peppermill served an excellent breakfast, so I convinced my friends that we should make the trek to Metairie to try something new for brunch on a Sunday morning. We arrived to a place which didn’t look like it belonged in stripmall. The facade reminded me of a European cottage, or something similarly warm and inviting. My friends and I were suddenly concerned: are we even dressed appropriately for this place? The menu was equally exciting, with rich-sounding offerings. It seemed that every other item was topped with jumbo lump crabmeat and/or Hollandaise.Expectations were again heightened when the bread arrived. Warm, delicious French bread with a crisp, flaky crust was brought to the table with whipped butter. We assumed that the rest of the meal would be equally delightful. We could not have been more wrong. When our appetizers arrived, we were immediately disappointed. Though the fried calamari was exactly as advertised, it was underseasoned and equally uninteresting. The Oysters Riccobono, on the other hand, looked nothing like I’d imagined. A dish described as oysters baked with parmesean cheese and breadcrumbs arrived as a mix of ingredients lazily piled into a casserole. We speculated that the oysters were scooped out of a plastic tub and nothing about the dish gave us reason to believe otherwise. We thought that surely this would be the single hiccup in an otherwise delicious meal. Everything on the menu looked so appetizing! Then the soups and salad arrived. I had ordered a cup of gumbo (a substitution for the cup of Creole shrimp soup which was included with my entree, but not without a $4.50 upcharge). The gumbo was garden variety with a light, buttery roux and ingredients which had simmered so long, they were rendered nearly unrecognizable. The only significant complaint about the gumbo, however, was that the rice had obviously been simmering in the gumbo pot just as long as any other ingredient. This may pass at Red Lobster, but I was none-too-pleased to pay $4.50 for such disappointing fare. I was told the Creole shrimp soup was decent, but nothing to write home about. The salad, which looked like something fresh out of a plastic bag topped with something fresh out of a plastic bottle, earned little more than a unimpressed shrug. My party began to lose hope for the meal. Our entrees would have to be spectacular to make up for the heaps of mediocrity which had been placed before us leading up to this point. When they arrived, the disappointed sigh was audible and unanimous. The presentation (white plate + meat + sauce) was all the foreshadowing needed regarding the quality of what we were about to ingest. The veal was grilled expertly, but was drowned in a Hollandaise which was reminiscent of a cheap Chinese buffet sweet and sour sauce: hot, thick, sticky, sweet, and nothing else. The shrimp and lump crab hidden in the pool of bright yellow sauce was small and rubbery. The filet was overcooked (ordered medium-rare, arrived just on the well side of medium) and was of poor quality. The party who ordered it said it reminded her of Applebee’s. The twice-baked potato looked like something which might be sent back at Applebee’s: a generic potato blend topped with a shiny skin of melted cheese. The only dishes which didn’t evoke complete disappointment were the brabant potatoes (perfectly cooked; almost completely unseasoned), and the fried chicken and fettuccine. The chicken was underseasoned and the pasta was a little al dente, but there were no complaints from the party who ordered them. All the decor and ambience in the world cannot help food of poor quality, and the Peppermill is proof of this. The menu, which initially excited, but ultimately disappointed, suggests that the staff may be stepping beyond its capabilities. The food, priced far beyond its level of quality, could only be enjoyed by someone who had eaten no where else since the day the restaurant opened. Riccobono’s Peppermill is yet another anecdote supporting the old adage: never judge a book by its cover.

10 years ago I felt I was at a. Geriatric convention. The food served was institutional. Grilled chicken, chewy green beans. Tasted like my college cafeteria. Maybe it’s worth aanother go. But such a bad memory.

Love this place!!!. This is such a hidden gem. My husband and I go here often and we always love it. There has never been a time when the food and service were not great. We went here for Mother’s Day and had such a wonderful experience with great food. I would recommend this restaurant for any occassion.
