Not Worth It!!. I used to go here for lunch all the time and get the veal parm special when I worked in the area. Well my boyfriend and I were looking for po-boys on a Sunday night and I figured we could go there. Very Disappointing!! He got the roast beef dressed, and the meat was not seasoned, almost no gravy, and the meat was stringy and tough. I got the veal parmesan po boy, and it was the same thing…the meat was so chewy…let’s put it this way…we paid $18.00 for 2 po-boys and didn’t even finish them. There are far better places in the city!!
Good Eats!!!. I ordered the fried shrimp and oyster plate from here and the food was seasoned well and fresh. I ordered mines with the mac and cheese and salad. Next time I will have them put the salad it in a separate dish as it was served in the same container as my hot food. The mac and chees is a must try and was very good. I will be back for more. Love the articoke balls as well.
Great menu. However, There was nothing special about it to me and my Po Boy bread was soggy. Maybe next time I’ll have better luck witha different dish.
Pork chop dinner tough, unseasoned shoe leather. Worst meal I’ve ever eaten,so tough i think my dental crown is about to come off -10**
Delicious!!! Shrimp and oyster are large and plentiful. Onion rings a bit salty for my taste but still good. Highly recommended. 🙂
This is one of our go-to Poboy places in Metairie. They are consistently delicious and we have never had a bad Poboy there and their loaded fries are awesome!
Solid local destination. Although Sammy’s is a sort of generic looking restaurant, it’s identity is firmly rooted in the traditional family owned local restaurant that used to be ubiquitous in our city. They do have several of the most important qualities that makes for a enjoyable dining experience. First, they have good service from a staff that is genuinely attentive, professional, and just plain nice. No attitude or BS there, ever. That goes a long way for me, and I imagine most of their loyal customers. The food there is reliably good, fresh, and satisfying. Most of us grew up with a place or two like this within blocks of our home that served as a go to home base restaurant. For me, they are a little out of my immediate range, but worth driving to for solid, well-prepared soups and po-boys. Admittedly, I haven’t tried the other entrees, but reports here seem to favor them as well. Sammy’s is also reasonably priced and designed to be an affordable choice for a business lunch or a family dining destination. I far prefer them to more popular and obnoxious options such as N.O. Seafood Company, Don’s Seafood Hut, and ACME for instance. Their pedigree more or less lines up with the likes of Fausto’s, R&O’s, Parkway, and Mandina’s. Recommended.
