This place is great! I love the soups, especially the lentil! Also love the grilled eggplant appetizer, but everything I have tried is good.

Sad to say. This was one of my families favorite restaurants. We ate there at least every other month. The last few months we saw a drastic decline in the food quality.Tonight was our last. Red gravy was burnt and bitter, daube was over cooked and dry, soup was barley warm, Ceasar dressing tasted less then store bought. The need to bring back papa Sandro’

Favorite no longer…. This was one of my favorite restaurant in the past. I have sent so many people here to enjoy the food. Recently though the food quality has declined as prices increased. My food has also had to be sent back each of the last three visits due to being just above room temperature. I tried to speak with the manager/ owner; however I get a go somewhere else attitude if you don’t like it. I guess three strikes and your out fits. I’m going somewhere else now.

A Touch of Venice in Metairie. By Carroll TrosclairExaminer.comIt may not be the most sophisticated Italian cuisine in the world and the Metairie shopping strip might not be the most attractive place for a restaurant, but customers regularly fill Sandro’s Trattoria anyway. To its regulars, the food is good, the restaurant is cozy, the service is friendly, the servings are huge, the menu is extensive and the prices are reasonable.Throw in a nice bottle of Chianti and what more can they ask for? What about those few folks who write unkind comments on the Internet? The Sandro regulars say let’em eat somewhere else.Sandro’s offers 10 dinner specials, including:–Mussels sauteed with angel hair pasta in a tomato base wine and garlic sauce. –Osso Bucco di Maile alla Cacciatora, a 20-ounce pork shank cooked in a light broth of garlic, onions and mushrooms –Fruitadel Mar: Mussels, oysters, shrimp and calamari sauteed with angel hair pasta in a tomato base wine –Eggplant lasagna. Or ask for the Eggplant parmagian even if its not on the menu. –Veal (or chicken) marsala, Veal demi glaze, with marsala wine and mushrooms over fettuccini– Veal (or chicken) Picatta. White wine, lemons and capers over angel hair pastaThe menu includes three angel hair and three fettuccini pastas. Each can be served with: Grilled chicken breast, salmon, shrimp or tuna Meatballs or Italian sausage Fried shrimp or oysters Panne veal or pork Sauteed spinach, mushrooms or peppers and onionsElsewhere on the supper menu you’ll find seven antipasti, five salads, several desserts and three soups. Try the tomato basil soup.Sandro’s is open for lunch and supper Monday through Saturday, with suppers starting at 4 p.m. The restaurant is located at 6601 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie.

Out on the town. We had friends in town and were looking for something good, quick and a departure from all of the fired seafood (not that there is anything wrong with fried seafood) and we found it here… The food was good, pleasant server and decent price point.. I can honestly say we did not leave hungry! Will definitely go back.

Crave worthy. My food was so good that I found myself craving it the next day. Judge not the restaurant by the blah exterior, but walk inside and order and see for yourself that this little place knows how to cook great Italian food.
