GREAT FAMILY RESTAURANT!. The food is GREAT! The service is EXCELLENT! And the food opinions are wide for everyone in your party to enjoy what they like BEST. The portions are large. Everyone in your party will enjoy their food and their dining experience at Tessie’s Place.
Neighborhood Setting. Tessie’s has been there for a long time because the service and food is that good. The waitress remember you and it is a homey atmosphere that makes you feel at home. I have never ordered something that I did not like and I have eaten most things on the menu. Same cook for years so the food is very consistent. Good food, good service
Love this place!
Too bad too sad. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but I’ve given them three chances and each time the food was pretty bad. None of the food seems to have any salt or seasoning in it. The fried chicken pieces are nice and big, but have the blandest taste. The roast beef poboy was skimpy—this is New Orleans, how can you mess up a roast beef poboy for crying out loud?? The white beans were tastless. The BBQ ribs looked and tasted like they had been boilled in a BBQ sauce. And they were tough, not tender like they should be. The owner of this place must never taste what comes out of the kitchen. My advice to him is: Fire the cook, find someone who knows their way around the kitchen, pare down the menu and start from scratch. The desserts were also a disaster–about three times too much cinnamon in a hard, tastless bread pudding. The peach cobbler is made from a few pieces of canned peaches(in the middle of summer) in a cake batter that has some ingredient that actually made the cobbler smell and taste funny. I’m never going back.
I love this place!. Like neighborhood restaurants used to be. Everything prepared fresh and to order. Everything fried is greaseless and crisp, including chicken and seafood. Great onion rings and totally unique, delicious tartar sauce. Homemade salad dressing as good as any, beans and rice every day, and a jukebox straight from the 50s. Some of the kitchen workers have been there forever, and it shows. Home away from home.
Memory lane. Tessie’s brings you back to when things were simpler and slower. The food won’t blow your mind, but it’ll remind you of what you ate in the 60s and 70s. It’s plentiful and cheap.
Nothing Special, Though Cheap & Plentiful Food. Nothing special about the place or the food, although the portions are large and the prices are cheap.
