Chipped beef and sliced pork sandwiches are both pretty great. I ordered three sandwiches: chipped beef, sliced pork and a rib sandwich. I thought it was interesting that the chipped beef sandwich was topped with pickle relish – be sure to mention if you’d rather not have the relish. I liked it a lot. The sliced pork was my favorite, even if the pork was a bit on the dry side – it still had a great flavor. The rib sandwich was two ribs – both were kinda dry – stuffed into a hot dog bun and covered in barbecue sauce. It was my least favorite but, honestly, was still kinda good in a simple way. All things considered, I really liked the place. Neta’s has been open since 1955. I showed up at about 1 p.m. on a very hot day and there were about 15 people in line to place their order. For a place with no indoor dining room, Neta’s seems incredibly popular among the locals. Most folks were eating in their cars in the parking lot. Next time, I’m going to try and save room for a coke float – gotta love a roadside drive-in that’s still selling root beer and Coca-Cola floats.

Stick to the sandwiches. By all accounts the sandwiches are good but the ribs were uninspiring. I’ll give them points for actually smoking them but like many Louisiana BBQ places they don’t know what a dry rub is. The sides were not very good. Beans out of a can the potato salad swimming in mayonnaise. The sauce was ok and the price was good, in line with quantity and quality.

Quite possibly the best down-to-earth burgers in the universe. Simple, but sooo tasty.
