Meh. It was ok at best, of course the best part of the meal is the hush puppies. Never had better hush puppies but everything else was bland. The coleslaw tasted dirty like they didn’t wash the veggies. Shrimp were decent but stuffed crab was fake crab meat and did not taste good at all.
I came across Catfish Cabin by accident and stopped at lunchtime because of all the cars in parking lot.Ordered the 3 piece catfish lunch and it was very good. Fish fried perectly with a light dusting and did not taste oily at all. Waitress says they use Canola. Fries and hushpuppies are OK but coleslaw is bland. Lemon meringue pie was a bit frozen but tasty. Iced tea melted the flaked ice and and became very diluted.Others ordered the whole catfish and were pleased.Good value. Decor dated. Service could not be better!
So the salad and the hushpuppies were really good, but the catfish was bland. Needed some spices or something. Had it not been for the red cocktail type sauce, I don’t think I would’ve even eaten the fish. But it was fresh and hot, so overall I liked the Cabin. However… The restroom doors are SCARY filthy! I was afraid to touch the doors, they were so smeared with nasty looking grease, perhaps? And the women’s room was as well… Both on the OUTside! Clean this up, Catfish Cabin!!
User reviews. The food is exactly like it was when i was a kid- delicious! This is what I love about Catfish Cabin! I remember coming here with my parents when i was a kid over 20 years ago. We must have eaten here almost every Saturday. The hushpuppies are awesome because they use corn and peppers in the batter. When it comes to coleslaw- I love it but I am super picky. CC has the best coleslaw! It is plenty juicy but finely shredded to perfection. I love their shrimp. They are not the biggest but they give you plenty. They butterfly the shrimp and use an awesome batter that looks orange (I suspect white corn flour). Did I mention the perfectly spiced cocktail sauce?! I am always full and satisfied when I leave Catfish Cabin! Thanks for many, many years of friendly service and great food!
