OMG Absolutely the best Italian here in Monroe!. My boyfriend and I had been here once before, the food was great but our waiter was preoccupied with a girl, which is okay, we were in our own world as it was. This time however was even better than the first time! Our waitress made the experience worth talking about, I believe her name was Anne? Everything was amazing from the appetizers ( which was the gumbo ), to the salad and entree! I got the spinach and cheese ravioli and she suggested this, and I recommend. While my boyfriend got the catfish rosalia, also recommendable. I will say without a doubt that Genos is the best Italian restaurant in Monroe La by a long shot. Go and enjoy the great food and service, but above all don’t forget to tip your waiter or waitress!!!
I like the atmosphere because it is like having a meal with an Italian family.
Geno’s is outstanding. I loved my visit to your restaurant! I was reminded of my trip to Roma! The chicken Alfredo is delicious! Capanato is devine! Love the family photos. The Godfather is my favorite movie, and I love Italian food. I imagined I could have been in a scene from the movie. I will definitely return!
Off night at Geno’s? Very salty sauce. Barely edible. Hope it was a fluke.
Wow!!! This is one of the worst restaurants that I have ever are at. We sat outside at a large table that was filthy. Like turned a baby wipe black filthy. The salt , pepper and sugar substitute were so old they were crusty and unusable. The food was okay but for the price it should have been outstanding. Asked for ranch dressing on salad when ordered and was brought something different and told that was all that was available. Can’t believe how bad this place was.
Goodbye 2013, Hello Geno’s. My husband and I have lived in Northeast Louisiana all of our lives. We have always wanted to go to Geno’s but never made the time. We have been MISSING out. We went to Genos on New Years Eve. We both had Lasagna and it was fantastic. The old building has lots of charm. It was like being in someone’s kitchen. When I go to a restaurant for the first time, I always order the dish they are known for. I was not disappointed at Geno’s. Even though the restaurant was busy, our food prep and delivery time was perfect, allowing us to have a drink before the meal arrived. Red, our waiter, was great. He reminded us of Chumley from Pawn Stars. Geno’s is where the local’s eat… wherever we go, we always seek out places that the locals eat. I totally understand why this place has been in business since the 1960’s. Fat Clemenza’s in Destin. FL is the closest comparison I can make to Geno’s food. Geno’s location has more charm than Fat Clemenza’s, though. We will definitely make this one of our regular place to eat.
Nice little restaurant. My husband and I visited the restaurant this past Friday night (5/31/13), we were greeted after walking into this nice little family owned restaurant by one of the wait staff. We chose to dine inside due to the hot temps outside, it’s a nice cozy atmosphere with lots of family history. Our dinners were very good, nice sized portions. The Veal Parm was good, and the Lasagna was nice and meaty with a nice dark red sauce (like my mother in-law taught me how to make). It was a bit busy being Friday night, so due to waiting a bit the owner Frank gave us a complimentary Cannoli which was delicious. Our waiter Jackson, was excellent he is a nice guy and made sure we had everything to our liking. So if you go ask for Jackson, he will treat you good. We will be dining at Geno’s Italian Restaurant again, after our dinner we spoke more to the owner Frank – he is a very nice man with a big family. He told us about the history of the family owned restaurant and about the history of the city of Monroe itself. Met some very nice people at dinner and learned a bit of history. It was a nice night out, we are looking forward to doing it again soon.
