Bland wet meat. I’m really disappointed , based on the reviews i’ve read here and word of mouth . this must have been a bad day . really i didn’t even eat the food . cold wet mushy meat no taste at all. almost like it was boiled in water , water only . bringing it home to my dog. to for to drive to return it . 3 plates i dropped $60.00 + dollars in that place, dang i was so expecting the holy grail of bbq and bam cold wet nothing also a lot of fat gristle and connective tissue . my god it was just awful an awful mess.
The Cochon de lait sandwich is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. Make sure you get it with coleslaw. Though I lived on the other side of town in Metairie I would often make the 30 minute drive for the sandwich and get at least a pound of Cochon de lait to go for the next day. Also, though not talked about as much, their bread pudding is fabulous and may be the best I had in my 5 years in New Orleans which is really saying something because just about every restaurant serves bread pudding there.
I have had a lot of chicken salad in my life time, but never have I had chicken salad taste as good as Walker’s Southern Style Bar-B-Que Chicken Salad. If you haven’t had Walker’s Chicken Salad I’m sorry to say you are missing out on best salad ever.
Madly Good. The meat is incredibly tender, and the horseradish and slaw were also nice compliments. It was just as good without the BBQ sauce as with. The loaf was not typical New Orleans French bread, but it was still awesome. Its worth getting cash and making a drive.
Cochon de lait po boy is one of the best things you will ever eat. As for the bad reviews, the csdh only issue exists at many local joints and for the two others what is wrong with your taste buds you probably frequent chains and have no clue what good food is
I made the trip over there at 11:30 from new Orleans and they were closed.
Walkers. The barbecue is good, but the service is terrible. They are NEVER open. They close for everything! you would think they would be able to get someone to run the buisness when they close for funerals, jazz fest, french quarter fest, birth of a new baby, it’s raining to hard etc. They need some good competion! anyone up for it?
