Food was good. All of it fried. Deal breaker was no beer.
Local from the westbank. The fried catfish and fried shrimp basket was great. but my wife ordered a shrimp salad and the shrimp on it were horrible, they were processed frozen shrimp. I can’t see how a south Louisiana restaurant could think they could get away with frozen shrimp.
Hmmm…. Pretty good. I see a lot of comments that the fish was cut to thick, which I guess I’m not much of an avid catfish eater… so I can only tell you that it was tastey. It was crispy and meaty. I am not a huge salt eater, but the catfish and fries definitely benefited from having some salt added. The best part about my meal was the hushpuppies. I have always loved hushpuppies… and these were awesome! Apparently… there are sweet hushpuppies and spicy ones… the spicier ones being offered by a local place called Capt. Larry’s. Unfortunately, they are not open on Sundays, and this was the last day I had to sample the food. I had my heart set on the Capt. Larry’s hushpuppies, but my hunger was definitely silenced with Adam’s hushpuppies. Also tastey were the fried pickles, but they were not drained too well… so although amazingly delicious they were also a bit too greasy. Make sure if you order them you try the dip they give you.Lastly, I can tell you that the locals know their stuff. Do stop in gas stations and grocery stores and ask where is a good place to eat. They will and do steer you in the right direction. Some of the fanciest restaurants down there have NOTHING on these (to most tourists) seemingly wayside restaurants.
Pretty good catfish just OVERLY priced on everything.
Pretty good catfish. Decent eats if you like catfishThe only reason I go though is for the fried vegetablesThink cajun tempura….Mmmm MmmmWorth the trip to down to Bellechasse just for that alone
Disappointed. Went there Friday 4/14 with a coupon from restaurant.com. They would not honor it because it was Lent. The restaurant was packed with people, so it seems like they were not losing money. The catfish was good, the cold slaw & hushpuppies were terrible. We were told we could use the coupon at a different date. Not to worry we won’t be going back.
Yummy Catfish, nasty cole slaw. So here is the deal: had one night only to check out some catfish place in NOLA and I picked this one.The fish was great, fast in coming out so I figured it has been sitting for awhile, but it was still tasty. The Mac and Cheese was like a party for my mouth. The hush puppy’s were the biggest balls I have ever seen! They could barely fit in my mouth, but when they did I nearly climaxed. Nothing special about the fries, they just laid on my plate doing nothing until I ate them. Stay away from the Cole Slaw; it tasted like wet lawn clippings.
