I guess I’m crazy. I live in Baton Rouge but I work in port allen and I always go here for lunch. The Ida burger isn’t a gourmet burger and I love it for what it is. It’s a Blue collar burger. My first time having it I was so stoked because it was dressed just right (just like a poboy!), cooked just right, it was a perfect size and everything about it just blended real well. Every time I’ve gotten it it’s been the same experience. I didn’t have any expectations my first try but it became my favorite burger in the area. Maybe I’m the one who’s crazy but I doubt it. I’ve had a lot of great burgers in this town but the Ida burger is my favorite. I come in around twelve every day during the week and the wait is pretty typical. Nothing to get angry about. So I’m guessing we got some people who came in on the wrong day, some people that are difficult customers, and/or people that are expecting a fat cow quality burger for $5. But maybe I’m just crazy.
Excellent drive-in food. Had an Ida Burger with fries. Both were large and very good. Not sure about some of the negative reviews. I recommend this place.
Friendly service and burgers are made fresh daily, frozen burgers are fast food chains!!!
Ida Burger. Had to wait an hour for could quite possibly be described as the worst hamburger I ever ate. And the french fries were equally terrible. And, the staff didn’t even care how long I waited, being completely unapologetic. People were leaving without their order because they had to get back to work, and many of these patrons acually called in their orders 20 minutes ahead. I wll NEVER go back here.
Words cannot describe how awful this place is!. Well, let me first start off by saying the customer service is horrible!! It took forever for the lady to tkae my order and they weren’t even busy. She had a very nasty attitude about hen I confronted her about. Anyway I placed my order finally, I ordered an IDa Burger with Cheese and Bacon and Onion Rings. Now I was told that the Onion Rings were fresh NOT FROZEN well i was very upset when i first took a bite to find out that they were frozen. Not only was that frozen but the so called IDA Burger was just a frozen patty. The only thing good about this place is the Soft Served Ice Cream and Shakes and Malts. So, if you are looking for a place that serves goodd ICe Cream this is the place to go. But for food I would think twice about it!! Oh and the place is very dirty looking from the outside looking in, the kitchen seems pretty nasty as well, i dont see how they pass their health inspections!!
One good thing. River Queen has all the makings of what should be a good Drive-In. Good location, nice classic look, and hopefully some good drive-In classics. Well the 2 out of 3 isn’t bad. I was excited as soon as I walked up to the place hoping to find a nice homemade juicy burger, but was disappointed only to find a frozen patty burger in my first bite. The only good thing was the onion rings were fresh and fried to a nice golden brown.
