Great Sushi!. When I’m in a hurry or on a budget, I stop by & get 2 Laura Rolls! They’re the best! The cCrunchy Rolls are yummy as well!
If you like this place, you’ve obviously never eaten sushi outside of Chalmette. It’s set up like a to-go Chinese place where utensils, napkins & cups are disposable. You order at counter and pay first and get your own drinks from fountain. However they charge the same, and some items they charge more for, than a sit down, authentic Japanese restaurant. The workers weren’t Japanese and there was a Chalmette High Japanese culture club frame on the wall. Which isn’t surprising when quesadillas are on the menu. Some of the rolls came with less pieces than the same rolls at other restaurants and with less filling. The crab salad was good though. The mango sorbet dessert was a nice option on menu and tasty. Not saying the food was horrible, but def not worth the price. I did prefer Umi in Chalmette. They also have Hibachi at umi.

The best Sushi in the Parish. They have the best rolls, best sushi but most of all the best staff, friendly and helpful. Now if they could only open one up in New Orleans East, Sushi is the new thing. Yall must try the alaskan roll, yummy!!!
I went into Bonzai at 8:15, they don’t close until 9pm. They informed me that they cannot fry anything bc they turne off the fryers bc they take a Long time to cool down and it makes them get out of there late if they don’t turn them off early. There is so many types of sushi that have fried shrimp. Close at 8 if you want to turn your fryers off then. You def just lost my business.
De-firggin-lish. Okay, I have two favorite sushi places: Sushi Brothers and Bonzai. Here’s what: Bonzai’s snowcrab salad is different from every other place. Its giant slices of crab make the sauce taste very light, creating nothing but delish! Also, all of their menu items are fresh and clean tasting..not like some scary sushi places where you question the age of raw fish. If you don’t like bonzai, you’re a little crazy. Also: UMI? no. Bonzai? Yes. 🙂
