Jeanfreau’s. I’ve been wanting to try this little hole in the wall for some time now. It really was everything I had hoped it to be. The staff who works there is super friendly and down to earth. You’ll feel like you’re eating at home in Mom’s kitchen. Today I ordered the special: grilled cheese sandwich & split-pea soup. My husband ordered the hot dog with chili and cheese. OMG. First off, that’s the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had. I didn’t realize it was possible to make a grilled cheese that good, but they managed it. The split-pea soup made me incredibly happy to see since I’m scandinavian and I never see scandinavian dishes in the New Orleans area. It tasted just like I’m used to making it at home. My husband’s lunch looked so good I asked for a bite. It was great. They cut the hot dog’s in half and grill them, add shredded cheddar cheese, and hearty chili. We live very close to this restaurant, so we will be going again in the near future.

Incredible Eats. I spent the entrie month of April 2012 working a project at the ExxonMobil plant two blocks from the restaurant. Ate lunch there 3-4 days a week and we were never disappointed. Best po-boys in the area, and every one on the menu is a winner. My three favorites are the shrimp, grilled ham, and italian sausage. Also try the different daily hot lunch specials. You’ll be happy you stopped in.
Their po-boys are to die for! The staff is friendly and the overall service is great. I recommend this place to all my friends!
