Very disappointed that we arrived around the end of lunch time and were told that they closed at 2pm and they wouldn’t serve us. As we were not locals and had been told what a great place we were disappointed to not be served.

Go for the Andouille, Stay for Lunch. It appears there are three major places to go to get andouille in the Andouille Capital of the Universe. But Wayne Jacobs not only has the best andouille at the lowest price, but you can have a great meal here as well. The other two places are just meat markets. Our lunch here was wonderful. We settled on the andouille burger (beef, andouille and pecans in the burger) and a smoked brisket po-boy. But we passed up lots on the menu that looked great. We took home a lot of andouille that they vacuum sealed for my trip back to Oregon. Their price is the lowest, they said, because they are not USDA certified, whatever that means. We watched the andouille come out of the smoker in the back. Their andouille gets more of a smoke, I think, than the andouille at the other two places. The flavor is incredible – complex with a pepper finish. You have to get off the highway to find this place, but it’s well worth seeking out.

Classic Cajun. Well-known for it’s andouille, Wayne Jacob’s is a local institution. Traditional cajun dishes are the order of the day, boasting most of the typical favorites with all the typical flavors. Being a smokehouse, obviously the fare is largely based on house smoked and cured meats and sausages with a bit of a spicy bite. The dining room is casual cafe-style with rustic cajun decor. I don’t recommend the andouille chips unless you are a fan of crispy, over-cooked bacon. Overall, the meals are fairly simple and traditional in terms of seasoning and quality. Daily lunch specials are a plus. Definitely worthwhile for everyday dining.Decor: 18 / 30Service: 19 / 30Food: 19 / 30

Great Local Restaurant. For a small town restaurant, and the only place to buy some of the best Andouille, pretty impressive. Service reminds me of a New Orleans restaurant, and the food is spot on. There Jazz Brunch is Outstanding!

Really liked it.. I ate there about 2 years ago and really enjoyed the meal. It was top-notch for Laplace and even top-notch when compared against the city. I had one of the omelettes for brunch and it was very good, perhaps the best omelette I’ve ever had. Glad Laplace has this place, and its where I buy most of my andoillie and other smoked meats.

Went there for Sunday brunch. Atmosphere nice. Crab cakes Benedict dissapointing. Too much breadcrumbs. Hardly any crabmeat. The dish should have been called breadcrumbs benedict
