Catfish Lafitte was crisp deliciously breaded thick flank of fried catfish over steamed rice. At my request, the shrimp touffe was served not over the catfish but on the side in a little cup and it was superb. My side dish was a small cup of the delish rich chicken and sausage gumbo. It’s the dark roux kind with plenty of spice. The man across the table enjoyed sampling all my choices. He chose a half-pound angus burger that covered much of the plate. Surrounding it were crinkled chips and a ramekin of spring dip. I was so glad he insisted I taste the dip and a bite of the burger meat. Both were treats. The special treat was the amazing bread pudding we split to cap it off. The food and staff are exceptionally great!
This place is the best lunch place in Shreveport, by far. Yes, it is noisy, but that is because it is busy due to the exceptional food; if you want a quiet lunch, go eat in one of the many terrible deserted Bossier City restaurants. They have a rotating lunch menu (best items being chicken and capers on Thursday, meatloaf on Wednesday, shrimp and grits on Tuesday). For the best value, I’d go on Tuesday, since the shrimp and grits with the tomato basil soup are exceptional. Butternut squash soup on Monday is excellent as well. Workers can be distant due to how busy it is, but that’s a small trade-off for the food quality. 10/10, highly recommended.
Noisy. The food was good, although I couldn’t try the pot pie as they had run out at 10:30am. They open at 10:00. Obviously poor planning. The noise level was horrendous. It was very crowded and was hard to get service. I even had to flag down a bus-boy at one point.I would like to try other things, but won’t be going back.
Best food in town…period! If you haven’t been there yet, you’re doing yourself a huge disservice! Great atmosphere, owner is very friendly and accommodating and most importantly, the FOOD IS AMAZING!!! Best strawberry salad and I hate salads! Ha…BEST bread pudding I’ve EVER HAD! I try and eat there a couple of times a month and I’ve NEVER been disappointed! The food is always hot and of course phenominal- waitstaff is great and pricing was perfect!Nevermind all these other imitators in town, or places that have seen their time (Fairfield Grocery)… This IS the hotspot for a great lunch here in town!
A little gumbo with my rice please. Usually, I love this place but just picked up a bowl of the gumbo and it was 90% rice. I usually like a little more gumbo to go with my big cup of rice.
Best gumbo by far. Outstanding gumbo…the trinity for lunch is great, small salad (love the spinach and blue cheese with fried green tomato), cup of gumbo, and half chicken salad sandwich is my personal fave
LOVE the pot pie, fresh wedge salads, and tomato bisque and hubby loves the red beans and rice!!
