This place is nice. Good stop by for lunch or dinner. Service was great even with a a waiter in training. I enjoy myself and will be coming back when I’m in town again.
Terrific place. Nice local beers and a full bar. We had the voodoo shrimp, a ribeye covered in Swiss and mushrooms, the shrimp sampler, and bread pudding. Everything was delicious. My husband had never had fried corn and loved it. His steak wasn’t a thick cut, but it was tender and super flavorful. The bread pudding was like eating a warm cocktail. When in Shreveport, make it a planned stop.
The Tiger has had me by the tail for years. The Blind Tiger is located in a historic 150 year old building at the base of the Texas Street Bridge on Spring Street in downtown Shreveport. When I first moved up here the location was a TGIFriday’s, and the woodwork and brass rail decor is left from that time. It’s a beautiful building with a colorful large pendant in the middle of the ceiling. Large banks of windows afford diners perfect people watching opportunities day and night hours.Parking is an issue, but not if you go on the weekends, which was my remedy. They have a limited menu, but over the years I have found most dishes to be tasty and well executed. There is a prominently placed and well stocked bar which serves cocktails and beer. Much of the weekenders enjoy the night life with a stroll through the Blind Tiger. The cocktails have always been very good and there are TVs and pool tables to keep evening crowds occupied.A special mention for the VooDoo Shrimp, when the dish enters the dining area, everyone in the restaurant knows something spicy is in the air. Exercise caution when ordering. This time my visit was for lunch. I ordered the crawfish etouffe, it is served with a scoop of rice and buttered, toasted French bread slices. The dish has lots of crawfish, and relied more on seasonings and spice for flavor than relying on salt. This was a nice rendition of the dish. The roux had less body than I would prefer but there’s a reason for that. The chefs at the Blind Tiger use a rough chop on their trinity veggies. Hence, said vegetables do not cook down enough to assimilate into a hearty roux. But the flavor is delicious and the crawfish cooked to tender perfection. I drank lemon water to cleanse my palate. My server was friendly and attentive. Since lunch specials do not apply during weekends, lunch for one is north of $15. Their burgers, salads, and seafood gumbo are also bona fide winners. Stop by the Blind Tiger and enjoy some good, flavorful food.
The philly steak burger was one if the best burgers ivehad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best burger I ever had. I can’t vouch for their other food. But we had really good service too! I can’t wait to go back, but I know I’m just going to get the burger again. 😀
JG score of 4.1/10 (+2 for food, +1 for atmosphere, 0 for price, 0.1 for only Diet Coke but they give you a good plastic cup to take, 0 for typical service and +1 for we would return)This was a good visit and a good meal…..not the best we have ever had, but still good. Our favorites were the Creole Pecan Catfish and the Seafood Gumbreaux. These stood out and were delicious. The fish texture and mustard sauce of the Pecan Catfish taste were awesome. The roux of the gumbo was as good as original recipe advertised and I should add we really like the taste and texture of the mini meat pies. Now, in the middle for us was the rest of the sampler= the fried crawfish tails, the touffe, the jambalaya and the dirty rice. These were okay. But by far and away last were the sliced fried pickles which were way too much pickle and poor fried breading that sloughed off and the blackened catfish that we did not even want to finish. The atmosphere was interesting. A lot of wood all around from the floor to walls. Reading the history in the menu you find this building is over 150yrs old and its name derives from a prohibition term. The inside is LSU/ Cajun decor and stained glass around the bar. The bathroom entry is a tight squeeze and they have an interesting collection of autographs too. For sheer age, we give it a +1.The price is fine for the food, the good food, but will go over $15.They only have Diet Coke but give you this cool Blind Tiger take out cup so that gets a little extra. The service was friendly and typical…does take a while to get the food but that can be for a good reason too if it’s not fast food and actually cooked with skill. We would easily go back sometime.
Not good. Had crawfish etouffe and crawfish poboy. Both were very poor quality and high priced. Kids meal was a shocking $8 for mini corndogs fries and a drink when we got the bill. Not at all authentic cajun food. Server was friendly but seemed overloaded with tables. Bummer.
