I ordered fried pork chops. To my disappointment after waiting 30 minutes, they were cooked in fish grease. Not only did they taste like fish but they were covered in cornmeal debris! After admittedly telling me that everything is cooked in the same grease, I was asked did I still want it. Heck no….and they still wanted me to pay. Then the cashier got a major attitude with me and rolled her eyes when I said I didn’t want it. I will never go to this place again because they know I come every week and spend a lot of money so where’s the customer service? They just lost a good customer who came weekly!

Home Of The Pick And Peel. We were told this means they pick there own greens and peel their yams every morning starting at 6:00am.This was a lunch we liked in more ways than one.JG score of 5.5 (+2 for food, +1 for atmosphere, +1 for price, +0.5 for can Diet Dr Pepper, 0 for typical service and +1 for we would return sometime)The food was very good. It took awhile to come out but was worth the wait. We each had a plate lunch: 1 plate was the fried catfish in fillets with tartar sauce, cabbage, purple hull peas and okra and cornbread. The other plate was fried pork chops, rice and gravy, scalloped potatoes, purple hull peas and okra and cornbread. We must 1st say it was all delicious. Served on old plastic partitioned plates just brought it home further. Our favorite meat was the fried pork chop. Good to just eat alone= no ketchup or nothing needed……very delicious. The fried fish was good too but we have had much better. What set it up to another whole level though was when you dipped it in the fabulous tartar sauce= one now of our top 2 favorites we have ever tried. It was good with we think some honey mustard flavor= when the fish was dipped in this and eaten we could have eaten on this all day long. The cabbage was delicious, the purple hull peas with okra were delicious as were the very cheesy scalloped potatoes. Rice and gravy was great as well especially when you cleaned your plate of it with the cornbread. The cornbread was just okay, our least favorite item and the only thing we did not finish. We ended the meal with their signature item, the Peanut Butter Sheet Cake. It was just okay to us. I liked it more than my friend did who thought it was just too much peanut butter. I could not stop eating it till I was done but I do not need it again. It was an original item for us we have never had.The atmosphere was right up our alley. Off Hollywood Ave east of the airport, it is not the best part of town but that is often where you can find some of the best food as is the case here. The building outside is classic and nondescript with only the sign out front. Inside is small with a counter and maybe 12-15 places to sit at. This looks like maybe an old business place of some sort with a caged off area where things must have been locked up once. Now there are tables there to eat at too. All the locals were there and as friendly as could be. Tablecloths were Noel type Christmas and old school. The whole place just said old school without saying it. TV’s on the walls to watch, old wall AC units on the walls for the summer, and a large picture of Obama over the counter.Price was under $15 for a plate lunch and dessert. They do have Diet Dr Pepper but in a can.The service was very friendly and appropriate and fast but not over the top.We would go back sometime. The food is delicious and they give you alot. We do not want or need to live close to this place.

Great Soul Food. I was told about Cat Daddy’s and decided to try it out. It was wonderful! I had the fried catfish, cabbage and yams, plus 2 wings — delicious! I also tried the peach cobbler– some of the best I’ve had. Definitely coming back!
