I use to go here all the time with my family growing up. The food and atmosphere was always wonderful. However, a year ago we went for our anniversary and nothing was close to wonderful. The host kept forgetting about us even though we had reservations. The vallet guy didn’t know how to drive a standard and almost messed it up. We are then seated right next to the live music, which was horrible. The speaker faced directly at our table which made it impossible to hold a conversation with my husband. Then our food comes. Our $200 meal which looked and tasted like something you would get at Luby’s cafeteria. Definitely not fine dining experience unless you’re 85 years old and use to nursing home food. We will never be back and I would never recommend anyone going here.
So disappointed will never go back. Me and wife drove two hours just to eat there and left feeling disgusted. For 2 people our bill including tip was over 200 dollars and that was with out deserts. I ordered the surf and turf the waiter had suggested had no idea it would cost me 82.99, 75.00 for a tiny plate with steak which tasted horrible and didn’t get eaten and fish which i did eat. The fish was mediocre at best, I’ve tasted better from Captain D’s. The loaded bake potato @ 7.99 extra which was cold and also didn’t get eaten was on a plate by itself. My wife gumbo was good other than the rice being little undercooked. When our bill arrived I asked the waiter if the cost of mine was correct and he said yes it was. I had to ask him if he saw the steak and potato that didn’t get eaten and the watered down filled sauce plate it was in. He asked if I wanted to get the owner and I said no. I should have and regret not speaking to him. This makes the 3rd time we have eaten there but this trip just made my last due to overpriced plate of uneatable food.
My favorite restaurant in the area. Just the best. Snapper dishes are phenomenal, turtle soup an explosion of flavor, the crabmeat cocktail is the best I have ever had. Tender lumps of white crabmeat on a bed of lettuce with a perfect and delicious cocktail sauce.Service is just wonderful. They check on you, nowhere have I ever had service like this in my life. An experience you will not forget. The crabclaws are wonderful as is the marinade they sit upon. However we do not get them anymore because they service them with a soft brown and serve type roll. Used to have wonderful and warm and crusty hard rolls and they were so good with real butter. You could sop up the marinade. But the soft rolls took it all away. I called and talked to Ernest and he said Nick used to make them but no longer was there. So I suggested WalMart hard rolls and they are good. Not as delicious as Nicks were, but very good and at least crunchy. So we skip the crab claws now.The drinks are all solid and good and the irish coffee flammed at the table will knock your socks off. Except last time they brought the coffee to the table and did not do the flame thing which was a show in itself. I asked why and then they went and got the silver bowl and ladle and started over and oh happy happy. I love that place I do. It IS the best.Looking forward to next timeJudy Horner in Shreveport (a customer of long standing going all the way back to dinning at his Dads place (the original Ernests) on the riverfront. Salute. Always wonderful. I love Old Shreveport atmosphere, but a bit pricey. Special occasions only for me. you must try the crab claws!!
Went to Earnest’s for Father’s Day and had a fantastic experience! I ordered the Father’s Day special: 18 oz of ribeye steak with sauted vegetables and a baked potato, marinated crab claws and Italian salad, and a 22oz Great Raft beer. I my wife and son all had the same (minus a beer) and for only 25 dollars. The service was the best of any restaurant I’ve been to and the flamb is an absolute must after dinner. Highly recommended.
This place is setup to be fancy with servers in white coats and ties. They sing and play with fire with the flamb deserts. But the food is subpar; they nickel and dime you for soda refills. Superior and 2Johns have better food and are priced better. Why pay for over priced New Orleans themed Red Lobster when better options exist.
Group function. We had a group function on Tuesday the 9th of Dec. 2014. The servers were very attentive and had no control over the time it took to get our meal. Our group (of over 30) waited 1 hour for the first course (it was bread) to come out and it was slowerfrom that point. At 9:15 (we started at 7 p.m.) our main course finally got to us. Our agreed upon menu was 3 items (chicken, fish, steak) and we were told only 2 were available. Desert was to be a choice of cheesecake or bread pudding and only thecheesecake was offered. The wait staff was very good, the food was average and the breakdown was in the kitchen.I would not recommend this eatery for any group function.
