Driving around looking at the GPS trying to find something to eat and we came upon Ming Garden, there were some people outside and we asked how the food was and we were told very good so we decided to go in and try it. At first I was surprised it was not a buffet but when we were seated and the waitress bought us the menu’s with some tasty won ton’s which hit the spot. The food was great and the egg drop soup had some of the best broth I every ate. The Kung Pao Chicken was really good and all together we spent only $15 before the tip. This is a good place and if you are close to the Base check it out you will be glad you did.

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. The Ming Garden isn’t fancy on the outside and the parking lot needs some work. But it’s what is on the inside that counts. You won’t find a buffet, what you do find is a family run establishment with over 30 years of good food. There is a lunch menu with plenty of choice and items priced from $6 – $8. It’s very easy to eat for $10 minus the tip. For starters you are served a bowl of won ton crisps, there is duck sauce and hot mustard at the table. With my order came a cup of hot & sour soup. This delicious little appetizer was a savory delight and palate cleanser, loved it. I ordered tea, and the sweet & sour shrimp. I was served promptly, and the shrimp are large. I had to cut them in half before dipping in sauce. The dish is served with traditional sweet & sour sauce, but I found I liked using the duck sauce better. The dish comes with sauted onions, green peppers, and pineapple. The pineapple added a nice pop of acidity to a mostly sweet dish. I tried one of the shrimp without sauce and decided to dip again. I suspect they are prepared with sauce in mind. My tea glass was promptly filled and the service was excellent. Try out the Ming Garden if you want light lunch fare, and you can be on your way in about 30 minutes, without breaking your wallet.
