We had a fun visit here several weeks ago.JG score of 4.5/10 from us this visit (+2 for food, +0.5 for atmosphere, 0 for price, 0 for no Diet Dr Pepper, 0 for typical service and +2 for we would love to go back)First of all, you get chips and hot sauce as an appetizer at this oyster bar! That was great; it helps to fill you up if you only get oysters like we did because they don’t fill you up. Good salty chips and good hot sauce….Now, we tried a lot of the oysters. Our favorite were the Danny’s Parmesan Oysters followed second by the mesquite grilled. We would get these over again. The Danny’s Parmesan Oysters were described as lightly breaded then fried and baked with Parmesan….they were tasty. The mesquite grilled were just as tasty and described as being basted with lemon garlic butter and light seasoning then grilled….very nice. We also tried the Angels which were fried oysters with pepper jack cheese then wrapped with bacon and mesquite grilled= these all sound great but really just tasted like bacon balls. Last were the BBQ oysters= mesquite grilled with loud and spicy BBQ sauce and Tabasco= the BBQ taste was too overwhelming. That was how we ranked the types we got….we also got some oysters on the half shell too.The atmosphere is good, kinda close knit with tables and ocean decorations and a big fish tank down the middle and with mounted TVs all around.Obviously, the price will easily be over $15 with oysters. No Diet Dr Pepper, only Diet Coke. The service was typical and friendly. We could easily go back here again.
Interesting place that’s a bit schizophrenic. The name would imply a seafood place, it is, sort of. They also feature grilled items. If it stopped there I might see the vision but throw in Tex-Mex and you kinda loose me. The Tex-Mex side could go away and I’d raise my vote, the last thing the area needs is more mediocre Mexican food. The grilled food showed a lot of potential but everything I’ve ordered has been over-cooked and dry. The seafood again is on the right path but needs tweaking. The exception being the Mesquite Grilled Oysters, they are perfect the way they are and the main reason I return. Service has been just ok, good enough I wouldn’t complain, not good enough to commend. Not my favorite atmosphere, very bar-like, loud and crowded. With so many good places nearby I would tend to write of The Oyster Bar but those Mesquite Grilled Oysters won’t let me.
Friendly service and great food. I would go back. Good
Overpriced….> Mediocre. If this will be your first restaurant experience…you may be impressed. Otherwise. ..settle for Taco Bell
Not worth the effort to get there.. Food not good…service not good. Used to be ok, but not worth the money any more. Don’t waste tour time or money.
Not Good!. We were there 2 weeks ago and it was fairly good, at least something different to try. So we decided to give it another try today, bad idea. We ordered a dozen raw oysters, and the parmesan garlic shrimp. I think the waitress was actually embarrassed when she brought out the oysters. They were the size of a dime, no joke, they were the smallest, tiniest oysters I’ve ever seen. I think the waitress was totally embarrassed cause she said we gave you a few extra. The shrimp was terrible, floating in butter with some kind of cheese, that had coagulated into a glob of inedible glue. BAD, BAD, BAD.
The food was okay the drinks were great! We ordered angels, fried catfish calamari, and shrimp po-boy.
