Love the Beef Tips (almost as good as home) and Pies. Prefer the Butterscotch, but the Strawberry is awesome. You can’t lose with either choice.
I highly recommend this place for breakfast. The portions were large. Incredible biscuits and gravy, the best pancakes I’ve ever had, and hash browns. Fantastic service!
Solid old school diner. I came for the dinner, had the special which includes a slice of pie. I’m sure the breakfasts are great, but if you haven’t, you need to come for lunch or dinner, it is sensational. Pies are wonderful, and not overly sweet, just perfect. They have burgers and lots of breakfast items, but you really need to try one of the daily lunch specials which rotate daily. Great made from scratch food, and make sure you leave some room for a slice of pie.I’m guessing they have been doing this for years, pretty much the same way, as once you get it right there is no reason to change.
I’ve moved from Louisiana to California and I cannot express how much I miss this place!!!!! Super affordable and so amazing! Best breakfast place in Shreveport/Bossier area! Their biscuits are to die for!!!
Found this place while passing through on a family trip. Food was WONDERFUL (we had breakfast). Service was excellent. Atosphere was very relaxed and fun. Will definitely be returning next time we are in town.
Strawn’s Eat. Shop is a diner across the street from Centenary college. The design and decor of Strawn’s makes old school come to life. From the round spinning red diner bar stools, to the flat top grill situated in the middle behind the bar, this is a diner classic.Going off peak to Strawn’s Eat Shop greatly reduces your menu options, so be aware. I was disappointed to learn what I wanted to order was not available between 2 – 5pm. The lunch special runs from 11am to 2pm, and the dinner special starts at 5pm.Strawn’s, serves breakfast all day long, and is one of the eatery’s specialities. The rest of the menu is limited but well executed. They only had a few tables occupied when we arrived, so we had the booth of our choice.My companion ordered the bacon double cheeseburger with fries, and I got the grilled chicken sandwich, sort of. The grilled chicken plate comes with a salad, and toasted & buttered buns. So I put it all together and made a very large grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken was tender and juicy, the veggies could not have been more fresh. The buttered toasted bun made a nice compliment to the acidity of the lettuce and tomato. The bacon double cheeseburger got 2 thumbs as well.I love the fact that you can watch the cook prepare your food. As a result, the aroma of the cooking piques the appetite as you consider the menu. They have specials for every day of the week.Strawn’s Eat Shop is widely known for their ice box pies. The strawberry pie has been cited by critics and media as exceptional. It is very, very, good, but also very sweet.After eating our late lunch, sadly there was no more tummy room for dessert. But Strawn’s Eat Shop offers good food at good prices, served by friendly people in an environment that is increasingly rare. Stop by and enjoy a bite.
Lived in Shreveport my whole life and this is my #1 favorite spot! Come here for birthdays every year! Wonderful wait staff, best breakfast in town, and the pie… THE PIE!!!!! Don’t miss this one.
