Character abounds at the Twisted Root. The stylised red brick building housing the Twisted Root Burger Company sets a mood for the offbeat, quirky, anything but ordinary experience to come. Inviting, yet incorporating industrial elements, the architecture provides a unique setting for a different type of burger joint. The dcor is eclectic beyond description, but the music theme is prominently discernable. Proper homage is paid to Shreveport/Louisiana musicians past and present, including Jimmie Davis, Lead Belly, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and arguably one of the greatest guitar players of all time, James Burton. Mr. Burton has a booth dedicated to him, a tip of the hat to the establishment for their good judgement.A menu board greets diners and hand helds are available for consideration as patrons move through the line. My companion ordered the Western burger and I chose the Build Your Own. The Western features thick cut smoky peppercorn bacon, which adds a ton of flavor and great chew. The burger I built included lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and fried onion straws. Each patron receives a tag with a celebrity name, so be sure to check yours or you might miss your food.As this was a visit with many surprises, the next was the drink fountain. I chose the watermelon sweet tea, unique, delicious and refreshing. They should sell this stuff by the gallon (maybe they do, I don’t know). But there are other unique beverage choices like the double-take inducing maple flavored root beer. There is also a pickle bar, with sweet fire, atomic, bread & butter, and just dill. I tried the bread & butter, and it has a kick. I tried to figure out what it was and my best guess is pepper-vinegar sauce. Deliciously surprising, I loved them. Now for the burger. I loved it too. Of course I would, I hand picked all the ingredients, which are served on the side. In this way, you really do build your own. I spread out the avocado, then the tomatoes, lettuce and fried onion straws. The bun is hearty, toasted and dipped in butter. What’s not to love? There is a large bar in the middle of the dining area and there is an equally large patio for fresh air, weather permitting. They feature several Louisiana beers, as well as other concoctions to quench the thirsty.Twisted Root is a great burger joint. The owners were smart to incorporate a local music theme, it gives the place a ton of character and ambiance. It’s a great place to take the kids, and adults will enjoy the nightlife in a joint where personality abounds.

This place was AMAZING! Here’s why:PERSONALITY: Coolest personalities of a restaurant I’ve ever seen. Their food has a uniqueness of different and creative combinations of burgers, sides, and shakes (including alcoholIc). Instead of calling your name for food, they give you a persona like Carrot Top, Mr. Incredible, or Beyonc. There’s multiple signs and stickers on the walls, and even album covers and Chuck Norris quotes in the bathrooms.FOOD QUALITY: You order a burger, you get a BURGER! And they’re thick and delicious. Lots of unique options too. I encourage people to branch out and try something new! They also have a variety of shakes. I got a S’mores shake and it actually came with roasted marshmallows on top, delicious. They also have a variety of different pickles. Sounds weird I know, but they’re house flavored and fantastic.DRAFTS: They also have a large collection of drafts available including Not Your Fathers, the first time I’ve ever seen that on tap. Lots of big and local flavors too. Good for beer enthusiasts.Overall, a fun and unique gem with great food and personality. I’ll be stopping here every time through Shreveport from here on out.

I would have to rate them 2nd to 3rd best burger in town. Great variety, and the Danish blue cheese is awesome. Can be slow at timesbut worth the wait. The fried green beans are better than the fries and their root beer is great. I have tried many of the burgers but I tend to get the Western and add blue cheese.

Yum!. I consider myself a burger connoisseur. If given a choice, my last meal would be a good, American hamburger. TR is one of my favorite places! I always get the Southern Comfort, and it never fails me. Fresh, perfectly cooked fries and ranch dressing, accompanied by TR root beer, makes a pretty perfect dinner for burger lovers!

Has such great potential. By the looks of the menu I expected a quality burger. The various burger options sounded amazing with gourmet toppings…each sounding really unique. They say all burgers are made to medium well, which is a little too overlooked for me, so I requested a doneness of medium. As expected, the toppings were delicious. I got the spicy goat which came with a generous topping of goat cheese, crisp bacon, and chipotle sauce. But the burger was worse than mediocre. It was well done and so dry I had to add extra ketchup to make it go down easier. The bun was ehh. Dry and too big for the burger patty. If they amped up the quality of beef or just cooked it less time, the place would be perfect. It has a great atmosphere and beer selection. Maybe ordering a rare burger would help??

No problems with the food.My problem is that when I’m at the bar wanting a drink, it’s not cool for me to wait ten minutes while both bartenders are immersed in cell phones and televisions. Then they want to get an attitude when you finally get their attention??? No thanks. I can get treated badly where the drinks are cheaper.

James. Had the Kevin Bacon burger. Great blue cheese. Loved the fried pickles. Also, a great pickle bar. Being a guitar player, I appreciated the guitar decor. Great staff. We will be back!
